This isn't a purchase that I would make (probably; one never knows, right?). But your reasons are sound, this is (still) America, and I REALLY hope you enjoy your new purchase!

Like many of the others, I'm interested in the video when you shoot it!

    Enjoy!

I had an Encore chambered in 500 S&W and found it lacking for whitetail deer. With 700 grain T-Rex bullets I could only get through 3 deer when they were lined up right before penetration was stopped by a 12 inch oak tree. Have fun and I highly recommend the 700gr T-Rex if you really want to give your flinch a workout.

The only rational reason I can come up with to own a 500 is because nobody yet offers a 600 that I'm aware of.

Had my share of hand cannons and killer recoil rifles and now am very particular about keeping recoil to a minimum due to the effects. We're not young forever so enjoy the experience while you can.

You can't own just one .500S&W. You need all the models, or the set isn't complete.

Then you have to do the same for the .460.

I've shot one and it was awesome! I thought I was ready for the recoil but I still doubled the 1st shot!! I wanted one but couldn't find the model I wanted @ the Indy1500. A 4" full lug with a comp is what I would like.

A friend of mine has one just like that and he let me shoot it a few times. With the moderate/light loads he had (Hornady 350 grn I think) it wasn't bad at all. All that weight and the comp really took all the bite out of it. I've shot .44s with 240 grain loads that were far harsher on the hands, though they produced much less muzzle rise and blast. I would imagine it is a far different story with the maxed out 500 grain loads, though.

Why’d you do it? Because you want a new competition rig.

I know I’ve posted this before, but it’s always fun to watch again.

    I've shot exactly 4 rounds through a S&W 500 with a 6" barrel. 2 "light" loads and 2 "moderate" loads.

And exactly 4 shots through a S&W 500 is enough for me.

I DO want to try a 460 and 454 Casull, though.
