It will make hunting safer for many. Currently you have to chose between wearing hearing protection to protect your hearing, or not wearing hearing protection so you can hear other hunters. I have known some people to turn 4 wheelers over on themselves etc. If someone falls from a tree stand and is yelling for help, you would not hear them with proper hearing protection on. On the other hand if you shoot with a suppressor, it is still plenty loud enough that others around you are aware a shot has been fired. I feel a 458 socom in my future with an external hearing protection device attached.
Electronic hearing pro is never as good, all around, as your natural ears. While it may enhance some sounds it can also obscure others or make it nearly impossible to differentiate which direction the sound is coming from. Either way, it's beside the point. There is no reason why suppressors should be illegal for hunting especially with the stiffer penalties for people caught poaching with a suppressor that have been included in this bill. Lets hope it goes through this time.Of course, you could also choose option 3. amplifying ear protection like Peltor. . .
Its nearly the same as the bill introduced last year. The beginning mentioning of deer and turkey is only talking about stiffer penalties if you're caught illegally hunting them with a suppressor.Just looked at the first part on the site but it mentions deer and turkey. Hope that all legal hunting is included.
Trying to read more now.
For those asking who to contact, well written respectful emails, letters or calls here for the time being asking to pass SB0199 from committee with a "do pass" recommendation would be helpful.

Don't forget that this committee was very friendly and DID PASS this same bill last year. It was NOT the fault of this committee that it failed last year.
Of course, you could also choose option 3. amplifying ear protection like Peltor. . .
Didn't the bill get buried in the house last year?
