How true. The best engineers I've known are the ones that wrench on their own stuff. The ones that don't will just drag out Spice models and Pareto charts to try show why you're wrong.Similar here. Those are experience’s and lessons that are understood at a level an engineer will not know. LOL
It is not just that people don’t have any fundamental experience and ground level knowledge, it is the arrogance with which they push what they don’t have the slightest clue about…
Got one, but miss that pesky age thing…I see your box wrench and raise you a dwell meter. Anybody under 50 have a dwell meter?
I have one, maybe even two. But the oldest ignition system I've had is a Ford Duraspark that's electronic, so I've never had an occasion to use it.I see your box wrench and raise you a dwell meter. Anybody under 50 have a dwell meter?
The fidget spinner of the tool world.Box ends are cool but have you ever used a double box end flex head ratcheting wrench?

Still have a dwell meter and timing light. Last time they were used was the mid-eighties.I see your box wrench and raise you a dwell meter. Anybody under 50 have a dwell meter?
I have a Sunn 3 gauge set.I see your box wrench and raise you a dwell meter. Anybody under 50 have a dwell meter?
I imagine the majority wouldn't know what a set of points are if you handed them some.I have a Sunn 3 gauge set.
Fuel pressure/vac combo.
DC voltage meter.
Dwell meter.
Had them for freaking ever but I am 21 years past your base line.
Thing is, if they have them can they use them.
As it probably should be. How many years have we had F.I. controlled by even a rudimentary ECU.I imagine the majority wouldn't know what a set of points are if you handed them some.
If you handed them a vac guage and told them to adjust the carb you would get a blank stare probably 90% of the time.
Oh I agree. Most have probably never even been in a vehicle with a points ignition. As it probably should be. How many years have we had F.I. controlled by even a rudimentary ECU.
These kids have most likely never seen or attempted to work on a Carb.
And electronic ignitions are very old news. Now we have crank/cam position sensors talking to the ECU that is setting the timing and firing the plugs.
It's a new world Amigo.
Now this is a Carburetor.Oh I agree. Most have probably never even been in a vehicle with a points ignition.
Have the same plus the timing light. So long since use I would need a refresher…I have a Sunn 3 gauge set.
