Did see Greenland from the air.
My plan is to never leave the continental US again.
Well.... maybe to Hawaii or Alaska again or maybe the Caribbean in a sailboat.

...who presumably didn't realize she had the periscope's undivided attention? :):

Well, we were on the surface. I'm sure if she looked she'd have seen the scope turning.
But, most people assume it's looking at the horizon, and don't know the optics can angle up/down a limited amount.

But, if you want to know, a lot of women on small boats at sea will get an all over tan. And sometimes, a sub may be in the area. :)

I dunno the number, let me count the ways:

    Murica!
    Mexico
    Canada
    Germany, pre- and post-unification
    Netherlands
    Belgium
    Luxembourg
    Liechtenstein (I think)
    France
    Monaco
    Spain
    Switzerland
    Austria
    Czechoslovakia (post-commie, pre-velvet divorce)
    Turkey
    Italy
    Croatia
United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi, specifically)
    Saudi Arabia
    Republic of Texas
    Denmark
    UK (England)
    Freistaat Bayern
    Ireland

    Touch and goes:
    Egypt
    Kuwait

I think that's all of them.

Whoops, I forgot about a couple cruises:
Puerto Rico. Ok, they're still part of the US for now, but I won't have to update my post later...
Sint Maarten. OK, they're still part of the Netherlands I guess, but seemed a lot different...
Some small island off Honduras, I think.

The Republic of Texas was dissolved in 1846.

    Allegedly. :)

You triggered on RoT but not Freistaat Bayern?

I read more on the history of Texas than on the history of Bavaria.

France was the first nation to recognized the RoT as a sovereign nation and they had an Embassy in Paris (1 Place Vendome, now an hotel).
I've been there (The former embassy, not Texas).

That is engraved on the facade.

You can barely see it on the pic bellow (in between the two heads, behind the lamp post).

Those are good pictures, did you take those or find them some place? Have you been there?

(Btw,I think the United States recognized the Republic of Texas first, in 1837, France was the first European country to recognize RoT (1839).)

ETA: p.s. you should come visit. Maybe not right now, the daily high temp is about 99 degrees F (37C), but some time soon.
