Seems like everytime I get out my Marlin 60 there are little speckles of rust here and there. I keep it in the closet, not in a garage or basement so I'm kind of puzzled. I always wipe it down good, Remoil it pretty regularly, but it still manages to get speckled again. Im gettin pretty pissed off. How do I combat this?

Sounds like you've got a moisture problem in that closet. Better find a dryer place to store it. :dunno:

Cilica pellets from stuff you buy. But you need to keep them oiled also... Rem oil, wd-40 (if your broke) but I prefer eezox

I will agree with EEZOX (which stands for ExpensiveEZOX) which has tested superior to all others with CLP coming in second for preventing rust, unless you want to coat your guns in Cosmoline before putting them in the safe. I use EEZOX and CLP.

Gun oil and silica gel. Obviously gun stores sell the oil, but some carry big silica pouches that feel like a bean bag in a gun sock.

My dad had a gun cabinet in the basement of the house and he just makes sure there is an incandescent bulb on all the time. Over all the years none of the guns have rust.

I've got one of the Remington mini dehumidfiers in my gun safe. Its working pretty well. Been taking it out about once a month to plug it in when the color in the window goes pink. Once its blue again I put it back in. I also have some dessicant bags in some of my ammo cans where I've got the bulk of my ammo stored.

When I clean one of my guns I just wipe it down with a paper towel I have applied some gun oil to. Just a real light coating on all the metal sufaces. So far I haven't had any rust problems.

REcently I have begun using Weapon Shield and I think it's great stuff. But I have used 3-n-1 oil before without problems.

EEZOK has worked the best for me. I have a Remington 870 in the trunk. The 870 has so small spots on it every so often and so did the Shotgun rack that holds it. Atfer using the EEZOK no rust at all. Pops gun shop carries it. I haven't found it anywhere else.
