This is another reason to carry.....

Hofstra student was killed by police, authorities say | Fox News

Obviously the police officer was put in a difficult position, but I'd prefer to not have to rely on another person to save my life. Sometimes it doesn't work out the way it was intended. I feel sorry for the family of the student, the police officer, and all others who were involved (besides the BG of course).

For the dupe Nazi's I searched Hofstra and nothing came up....lol....that's all I have for you. :ingo:

    .
    This makes me sad. :(

Again, another perp that probably shouldn't have been out on the street but the jails were too crowded. (speculation)

That cops life will never be the same.

And now for the cop bashers in 3....2.....1....

Very unfortunate. The officer had to fire after the perp pointed his gun at the officer. 7 of 8 shots hit the perp, but the 8th hit the hostage in the head. Tough situation all around.

So if someone shot at you, you'd suck it up for the hostages good?
While it rather easy to arm-chair quarter-back these things sometimes, I'd like to say that if it meant possibly ending the life of an innocent person I would withhold my fire. That being said, there is no telling what may happen in real-life.... either way, it happened, and it's changed the lives of one officer and one young lady's family forever...

I agree about armchair. But it seems that has already happened.
I think it is a ****ty situation. Lose-lose.

So you guys would have just sucked the bullets up being fired by the BG?

The BG didn't fire on the cop. The cop was reckless & a bad shot:

Junior public relations major Andrea Rebello was shot once in the head early Friday morning by an officer who opened fire after the masked intruder pointed a gun at the officer

Azzata said the Nassau County police officer fired eight shots at Smith

How difficult of a decision to fire or not for that cop. I couldn't imagine how he feels right now...Good argument for anti-gun control though. The criminal still got the gun, it was obviously illegal with the serial number being scratched off.

    purely speculation:
I dont think you make a decision in that situation. I imagine your natural instincts to protect yourself take over.
