Ok, they are ugly, bulky, and heavy, but for the price you get a very dependable gun. Does anyone here have a Hi Point gun? My brother has the C9, 40, and 45ACP. When we go to a range everyone always ends up shooting these guns and falls in love with them. Im in the process of buying the C9 and 40 cal. Yes there all better guns but for the price, they cannot be beat if you are looking for a handgun at $200 dollars or lower. They come with a life time warranty and their customer service is Top notch.

Myself, I would not give $25.00 for one. There are better guns for the same price, like used kel-tecs or surplus handguns. To each their own.

Go ahead and buy it for $25.00. I'll pay you $50 for it, then sell it for $150.

Exactly. Yes there are better guns but if you are on a budget with a little money to spend and want a good handgun, you cant go wrong with a HP.

A High Point will not get you a seat at the cool kids table(do you really want to sit with them anyway?) but by all acounts they do their job, and from what I have heard their warranty department takes good care of people with problems. If I was on a tight budget and that was what I could afford I would not hesitate to get one. :twocents:

LOL! This is good. I wondered how long it would take for someone to get around to Hi Point on this forum. I own the JHP in .45 ACP, and it is the best .45 pistol I have owned. I have had two Springfields and a AMT in the past. I bought the Hi Point about six months ago for 190.00$ - with hard case. I am able to shoot 2" groups, off sand bags, at 25 yards all day long with this pistol. I have now just over 500 rounds through it, both ball and JHP, without one single malfunction. The gun fits perfectly in the Fobus paddle holster I bought for it, but is difficult to conceal unless I am wearing a coat or something. Say what you want about them, but mine runs like a Swiss clock.

i think personally they are extremely bulky, low round count, and would be hard to conceal comfortably..

However if i did re loads, I would be more than happy to have one to "test" different formulas, as a sacrifice gun :-D. I know i am horrible. Just my thoughts though..

But if that is all you can buy and have to have a gun right now for defensive purposes at your house.. then by all means buy one.

I dont own a Hi Point and have only shot them twice in my life. But on both occasions they shot well. And to be honest they are a far better gun than the now discontinued S&W Sigmas. If I was looking for a inexpensive beater handgun I would buy a Hi Point. After all its better than getting ripped off for more money on a gun you buy just for the name like a Sigma.

Have to chime back in here - you can tell I have put up with a lot of crap from people over owning a Hi Point. Believe me, I am under no illusion to the fact that I will not get twenty five to thirty thousand rounds out of my Hi Point, but seeing as though I bought the gun to shoot maybe five hundred or so rounds a year in it, it will do. I wanted something that was of a heavy caliber, that I could have my wife use quickly to defend herself if I was not at home. She shoots it good and with 9 rounds of 230 grain JHP, I think she will be able to scare off or kill someone who is trying to get her. This is a gun that we keep in a place where it gets a little dust on it, but is quick to get at. Other than my carry piece, all the other guns are locked up. That's the main reason I bought it.

Years ago, I was gifted a HP .380, and while I had it, there were no issues of any kind. It was a great range gun for a first-time pistol shooter.

I will say that its grip ergonomics are deceivingly comfortable. I was worried that the grip screw would be uncomfortable, but I didn't feel it when shooting. I do not like their thumb safety, because there's no thought for comfortable use there and overall, they do honestly feel low quality... however, they are built quite well. The fixed barrel blowback action is a time-tested design and they didn't screw it up. I was surprised to find out that the factory actually discourages field disassembly/cleaning more than a bore brush before 2,500 rounds IIRC.

Customer service was helpful and friendly... when I asked where I could get a chamber flag, they sent me one for free.

The sights on it were easy to pick up and it was easy to shoot. The trigger was forgiving.

It didn't lend itself to carry, therefore I traded up for a more friendly CC piece (higher capacity, smaller profile, better ergonomics). I am not sorry that I had it, but I wouldn't go out and buy one for my general needs in a sidearm.

Say what you want but I've owned guns that cost 3 times what my hipoints did and had issues with them. Never had any with my hipoint. Go figure.

BTW welcome TJS glad to see you made it over here.
