I was around 11-12 when I first saw the movie.

The Princess Bride (1987) - IMDb

A classic fairy tale, with swordplay, giants, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, and yes, some kissing (as read by a kindly grandfather).

The movie is a classic even though many of us viewed it the same way as Fred Savage's character. But just about anyone who watched it was drawn into it. I could sit down and watch it again and I rarely watch movies more than once.

That movie is a classic. My kids loved it and wore out the VHS version and my daughter has it on DVD. She 26 now.
I do not see the issue.

You've never lived until you take a charter bus full of 6th graders on a 350mi round trip with The Princess Bride playing on the DVD displays in a never-ending loop. Every kid knew every line. Loudly.

The fact that this happened just makes me sad. Even if someone hadn't seen the movie, which I do find inconceivable, one would think that person would assume it was a quote of some sort. I don't know many people that walk around with a shirt on sporting their name and a message stating your mission in life. Common sense, people...
