bought a ruger or savage there in kentucky many years ago....it was a pain but no worse than dicks or rural king..if ranked by worst experiience to best it would go dicks, walmart, rural king...but none were bad...they just escort you out like you are a active shooter,...i had to sign something for dicks saying something dumb too...it was condescending.

Bought a mossberg 12ga and a 30-30 winchester a long time ago. I had no intentions of buying the winchester, but they had mixed the prices on the .22 and .30-30. The .22 was sellingfor $259, the 30-30 for $169 (did I mention it was a long time ago?). I would havev bought 2 of them but their inventory was incorrect. I shot it for a year, then sold it for $200 and made money from it.

Most walmarts stopped carrying firearms in the stores or I would have likely bought more from them over the years. I'm not a store snob, I like walmart. They've been puttig a lot of effor to get back to carrying US made products again. But the haters are going to hate because they're too ignorant to care.

I'd be happy to buy a gun from Walmart if they had any where I go. I've been through about a dozen Walmarts around my area and none of them sell any guns. I have bought from Dicks and Dunhams too. I have to qualms about where I make a purchase as long as the price is right for me.

Wal-Mart is not my first choice but I bought a Savage Mark II from Wal-Mart a couple months ago for my sons to use. I checked first with my LGS and he wanted $209. Dick's wanted $219. Buds Guns wanted $170. Wal-Mart was $147 and in stock. So yeah, I bought it to save money and I felt good about it. The gun attendants are ignorant as a box of hammers though. Wouldn't let me hold it before I bought it - they said it didn't have a safety - uh, yes it does. My mother in law actually liked it so much she went and bought one too from wal-mart. I guess they owe me a commission.

Someone should tell Walmart they would sell more guns if they worked on customer service.

Being as I'm one who likes to save money on most everything I buy, of course I have.

However the funny part with the last purchase I had the manager walk it to the door for me while I wore a 9mm on my side, not concealed.

I bought a gauge back in 1997 cause it was a red tag special. I still have old trusty. If I happen to see a Colt in the rack for $499 you bet your sweet arse I'll be walking out with it and it will not be posted in the classifieds!

I haven't, but I rarely buy from dealers, either. It's too easy to find what I want from the comfort of my couch to drive all over the state looking. (And I'm cheap, so I'm always looking for used.)

I don't think that I've been to the local shop here more than once this year.

Someone should tell Walmart they would sell more guns if they worked on customer service.

Their market research shows the exact opposite: Americans don't care at all about customer service if they can get more stuff for the same money.

For most people, lowest price isn't just the most important factor: it's the only factor.

Nope. It's been about 15 years or so since I bought anything at a Wal-mart. Not out of social convictions or the like, I just decided they sucked and I hated standing in line at 3am while 45 registers stood open and unattended.

Fixed. They get about $14 billion a year in food stamp purchases (2013 stat), so they are appealing to folks who likely don't have a lot of cash to spare.

I bought a Henry .22 for my Dad one Christmas at the old Wal-Mart in Lafayette.

I have purchased gun collections worth of ammo at Wal-Mart.

I don't go to Wal-Mart for customer service. I go for cheap underwear and socks.

Back in the early '90's I bought a Winchester 1300 12ga semi auto shotgun. I think I paid around 180 for it. I still have it, lost count of how many shells I shoved in that gun. I buy almost all my ammo there. I live less than 5 minutes away from Walmart. I go there for everything. I have never understood everyone's hatred for Walmart. They provide jobs (sometimes for handicapped, physically and mentally where others can't or won't). Plus they SAVE ME MONEY AND TIME! Yes I said time. If I have to wait in line a little longer at Walmart it has never equaled the time it would have taken to drive to the next closest store for the same thing. Sorry for the rant. Maybe I am a "people of walmart" I don't think I am but who knows.

My closest store is Amazon. They also don't complain if I shop sans pants.

Yes - 2. I bought my first gun there after looking around they were the cheapest at that time for the Remington 870. Nothing special about it although I do miss it (stolen years ago out of my apartment). A few years ago I bought my Plinkster there as well.

I too hate walmart, but if its a big enough savings I will still go there.

During the "Obama Gun Scare" WallyMart had Mossberg 500's , wood (birch or synthetic),w/28 in ported bbl(12 ga) for $245.00. Yes, I bought one. Yes they walked the gun to the door. Later on bought a Henry 001 22 cal Lever rifle. Price was $269.00. Again, the LGS was at least 30-40% higher. Why not use their gun department? My ammo comes from them. in fact snagged a 333 box of Winchester 22 HP's last week for $17.00 + change. Haven't seen any there in 2-3 yrs! 45ACP Alum case was $14.95 for 50. My G21 will eat that and my RIA1911 will too. Besides groceries, I buy little from them. Some stuff is pretty China cheap crap.

I have fired rounds through both guns, cleaned them, and ready for more. I saw the posts about ARs not being sold. If WM cannot make their GPM on that it is probably going bye bye. They have muzzleloaders as well, most around $300, but a couple of CVAs at $199.99. (fiberglass stocks, no camo unless more $) May go look in to one.
They sell accessories, Pyrodex, cleaning kits.
Like others have said, seek warranty elsewhere. If it was a TV, radio, minor stuff, WM may back it. Seems like gun companies want you to send the stuff under warranty.
That is a trick bag, can be done, I had an issue with a 22 Revolver( Chiappa-1873), and Cabelas refused to return it to manufactor under warranty. Said I could, but instead sought a Gunsmith, he polished a high spot on the cylinder, touch of cold blue, and basically called it a N/C. He has worked on my firearms for over 20 yrs, will be my guy till I die. The 1873 works perfect by the way.

So there is LGS, and no whistles WallyMart. Choose wisely.
