Glock 19? FN? M&P? Very, very skeptical.

The Smith & Wesson M&P? Well, it was in a really cool movie with a super hawt chick so INGO is all super impressed with it, declaring it Tacticalsexual a while back with a 4,872 page paen to it. But, um, you know, Smith did put a SAFETY WARNING ABOUT THE GUN DISCHARGING UPON DROPPING!!!:D

There's no rational basis for denying science, it happens. It may not happen that often, but dropped guns are something we should guard against and not be so cavalier with our weapons. That way no INGOer ends up like Steve Malloy.

I wouldn't call this science, it's a statement by a person who has a lot gain by stating it was an "accident". I firmly believe anything mechanical can fail, but I have to wonder about the motivation of the person stating the gun "just went off when I dropped it".

Ok, the cop's a liar. There are plenty of other dropped Glocks discharging upon impact.

Sorry Kirk all I read was an article about a NY cop that blew his money on beer and cigs instead of paying his utilities. One night while drinking he was playing with his gun or possibly trying to unload it for cleaning. Somehow he booger hooked the trigger and then said it was an accident to cover his butt.

Oh oh and yes guns can go off by themselves. 1911 in poor repair could do this as can your 870. I replaced a firing pin spring in a 1911 last night because guess what, they wear out. Cost me $3.

In order for a Glock to go to go off by being dropped, three internal safeties had to have failed. Either something hit the trigger or he lied to save his skin.

Plenty of other claims of dropped Glocks discharging upon impact.

Sir, no one is claiming that dropping a loaded gun on a hard surface is a good idea. We're just skeptical of unsubstantiated claims that contradict an understanding of how a mechanism functions (and does not function).

Why do you hate freedom, Kirk? Why?

this is why I like to buy Walther. my P99 has a drop safety that prevents the firing pin from moving unless the trigger is pulled past the 1/3 way point.

Then again, the Walther has the ability to keep the trigger at the 1/2 way point so long as the gun is cocked, but I never carry them that way.
