I went to grade school in Indianapolis in the early 60's. I remember what seemed like almost weekly "atom bomb" drills during the cuban missile crisis where we were all taken to the basement hallway and had to get on our knees and put our hands over our heads and wait to die. Then they would feed us graham crackers and milk.

    Here and There
Born in '72, lived in tiny towns my whole childhood. I loved being able to be out and about from breakfast to dark. We explored every inch of woods around our town. I remember when you didn't have to dial the prefix, just the last digit, 9-3251 was our number. My mom had a '71 VW beetle. That thing made multiple trips to FL to visit my grandparents when I was little.

In the 70s just about everyone I knew had their mom at home most of the time. We didnt have 3-4 cars in the driveway and maybe had 2 TVs in the house. If you were out playing in the neighborhood you had to worry about getting in trouble with numerous parents that were not your own. Was a much better time to be a kid, dont know about being an adult then though.

That is so true, kids these days would die if they didnt have cell phones and video games or computers.

As kids we were MADE to go out and play and your imagination was the best thing.

Toys were stronger and lasted for decades.

Tonka trucks where the **** back then, took dads car to destroy one

Grew up in the 70's, times where good, gas was cheap, muscle cars where cheaper, beer was better and the women where hotter! :patriot:

I agree with all you said except the women being hotter. When I was in school in the 70's, there was maybe 2-4 good looking girls in each class. There are many more than that now. Lots of hairy smelly girls in the 70's. The only thing bad about hippies and ex-hippies was that they did not take enough showers.:):
