Good thing that Muslim mosques never preach anything bad about non-muslims.

I thought the same thing, but I wonder if the 7/7 attacks led to a "crackdown" on this kind of thing in mosques, so authorities felt compelled to do the same thing to other churches.

    The lure of slippery slopes.

It's a good thing the Old Testament prophets weren't bound by modern British law. I don't think Elijah was overly concerned about offended the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings 18. Despite his sarcastic tone to the Baal worshipers, God caused fire to fall from Heaven at Elijah's request.

    Compelled or allowed?

    Funny thing about human rights...

Oh, and for the record, I don't think he should be prosecuted as long as he wasn't advocating violence. Being tried for being disrespectful is too far.

    Compelled or allowed?

Well, the law forbidding "grossly offensive" language is what allowed any such prosecution. With a stiff upper lip and a swig of righteousness, they might've felt compelled to go after non-muslim instances of "grossly offensive" language.

And the whole concept of "grossly offensive" smacks of thought-police.

Well, Kenya is only registering churches.

Kenya's Evangelical Alliance opposes registration plan - BBC News

The move was aimed at stopping the growth of evangelical churches, said the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya.
But a leading Anglican cleric welcomed the proposals as an attempt to end the "commercialisation" of religion.
The proposals require all religious bodies to register, and for preachers to have police clearance.
All religious institutions would also be required to submit their statements of faith to a government-backed body for examination.
