Funny how things change. When I started it was Colts or Smith & Wessons and the guys who were willing to settle for a "lesser firearm" (at lesser price) had Rugers. The low price import stuff was crap and were never in business very long. Now COLT is gone, Smith is still there and Ruger has upgraded. Of course there is a whole new list of lower line manufacturers for the cheaper price product.

Saw police or correctionel M64s(Stainless, 38 spec, heavy 4in bbl) selling under $300.00.Prolly up now, but if you only want for a basic revolver, they can't be killed too easy! 38 spec fans are like a cult. You can't own enough, and they multiply like rabbits.
    Good luck.

I'm looking for a revolver for around $500

I bought a Smith M64 around Christmas for half of this. It is being cleaned up in Tennessee as we speak.

    Lots of options--Ruger Security Sixes, Smith M10, M64, M65, M66, inter alia.

Keep your eyes open, go to a gun show with a buddy who knows revolvers.

If you buy an FN Barracuda, I will drive to your house and yell at you.
