    M&M warranty protection act. Look it up. Basically, if you refinish your barrel, and it's responsible for the failure (brittle, etc.) it and any resulting damage would not be covered. But, if something else fails, they would have to prove your refinish job caused the failure.

    Yes. Magnussen-Moss. Not only is this ^^ true, but under M-M, if anything is *required* for warranty protection, then the maker of the item MUST provide it FOR FREE.

    That's why automakers only recommend a certain brand or viscosity of oil. If they said you had to use a given oil in order to have a warranty coverage, the law would require them to give you free oil changes throughout the warranty period.
