If I could go back to the beginning of this path, I would take the other road and NOT put the RMR on the pistol...

Because once you do, you pretty much want it on every. other. pistol. you. own.

Marc we must be on the same page tonight, as I was working on updating my thread when you posted this.

    https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...dering_a_red_dot_for_my_defensive_pistol.html

I agree with Mr. Seeklander in his article-- red dots on pistols are the future and we'll continue to see them accepted on defensive pistols, much like they've been accepted on rifles.

What I am currently most interested in is seeing a manufacturer set out to design and build a red dot sight specifically for use on a defensive pistol. RMRs are great and probably the best thing currently available for such a task, but they are still re-purposed optics.

Even better would be a pistol company and an optic company coming together to design an integrated pistol/optic that was small, sleek, and low-profile.

My thoughts, also. The current RDS on the market are not optimized for a pistol. They need to be about half as tall. Yes, that means giving up some range, but a pistol sight shouldn't be expected to be useful past 50 yards.

I'm monitoring this. I like Aimpoint RDS, but even their small sights are a poor fit for a pistol. They are round and clunky.

The RMR or Leupold models are more on the right track, imo.

Jerry is impressive with the RDS pistol combo.

My question may be assenine but how is a red dot superior to a laser? In my eyes a laser is smaller, cheaper and may be quicker to target. No I have never used a red dot or holo sight so I really dont know. Im talking a laser activated by grip not a seperate switch.

One of the big things is a reddot doesnt give away your position. If your in a defense situation, and aiming with a laser your making a nice bullseye for the bad guy

That's a good question. I would have to say that the CTG would be a back up to the RDS, and iron sights would be your last resort if the RDS and CTG or other brand laser fail.
