I remember my father buying an M1 Carbine from the NRA and delivered to our front door by the US mail! I think it was about $30 at the time and gas was about 40 cents a gallon.

Happened one year ago nearly to the day just down the road from me. Family lost their house to the resulting fire.

Closest I can offer is a time when two Chicago PD officers had confiscated a ton of fireworks thst accidentally got ignited in their car. If I remember correctly a dropped cigarette was involved. They got out uninjured albeit with no shortage of excitement.
