So he should have been on radar after his prior LEO encounter. But the fact that he was caught with firearms and a map indicating the WH should have been a pretty big clue that he posed a threat.

Dogs, snipers, foot patrol, anything. Instead we just sent out a message that we are so weak we cannot even stop someone entering one of our most secure buildings, even when he was already known to us.

Yeah obviously. How many breaches at the White House have we seen during this presidency!!! Remember the reality tv husband and wife people who weren't even on the guest list but made it into an even where the president and other heads of state were there?
The secret service under this administration has been an embarrassment to the office of the potus and a danger to him.

This is just one more
incident in a long line and there will probably be more Instances where they will show incompetence.

The story I heard on the radio today was that not only was he a loony, he was on a mission to warn Obama that the atmosphere was being stripped off the planet (or something like that) and we were all going to die if nothing was done.

He is DEFINITELY crazy if he thinks Obama could actually DO anything about it even if it WAS true. That right there is grounds for having his case thrown out due to insanity.

And how do we know SS isnt ignoring him actively, hoping something happens? You know, like in the movies?

That should go without saying. Sadly that was not the case. Instead he got access to the WH, then we had the drip-drip of information; first he wasn't armed, then he had a knife, then it was 800 rounds of ammo, then it was he was known from a previous incident when he had a rifle.
