    For what reason are they even there messing with his property? The article didn't say.

    One thought I had was maybe with his advanced age, he decided to sell his collection, then someone that resents the idea of private citizens owning such artifacts gets wind of the collection coming onto the market, decides to use the .gov to separate him from his possessions at a much reduced cost and prevent any of it from falling in to the "wrong sorts of hands" again.

    Maybe we should wait to get more information before we draw our conclusions.

    Pfft, and what past experience on INGO leads you to believe that this is in the realm of possible outcomes for this thread?:laugh:

    The collection was described by an anthropology professor as being equaled by only the largest museums.

    Somewhere in there it said he had acquired some of the things illegally . So now the government has to sort through it all , to figure out what is the home owners , and what is the stuff that is not his. This will be a long process , and with the guys advanced age the government will end up with all of it . Would not surprise me.

    Which is a reason for seizure how?

    Huge story on some news station on the break room at work, just saying FBI "surrounded" an IN man's house and were seizing his anthropological collection...but that was the whole extent of the news. They did say they "sought and obtained his cooperation." ..... Why would they surround a location if they had complete cooperation?

    The only reasoning for the fbi involvement I can derive from the article is that "some" of the artifacts were aquired illegally. Sounds like a lot of work for just some.

    Well... the FBI sure made their conclusion when they moved in and started rifling through everything. Will the onus be on the individual to provel he obtained the items legally, or on the FBI to prove he obtained them illegally? I suspect the latter is much more difficult and won't be bothered with.

    The man is 91 years old and called the stuff in himself. The trial and his incarceration would be a very wise use of
    public money.

    Hmmm, they are there by his invitation.
