Intimidation and harassment by corrupt police officers who are more concerned with getting an arrest than arresting the right person is of course a serious issue. What this amounts to in itself is Murder as they know the person they are intimidating will likely face the death penalty. If the accused is innocent and he is executed then the officers should face a murder charge which of course is a capital offense. If the accused is not executed the officers should face an attempted murder charge and be imprisoned for life.

    Good luck with that.

Yeah...I don't see that happening any time soon.

I'm still on the fence. Obviously, the MSM wants, and is going to, portray it negatively.

On the other hand, it's been reported that these two scumbags broke in multiple times (either Byron Smith's house and/or others).

But the bottom line is, the two scumbags (sorry, you're NOT 'kids' when you're willingly and intentionally perpetrating multiple felonies) broke into Smith's home. And, as that's considered the 'last bastion' and 'last line of defense' of safety for any individual, a line must exist beyond which any criminal is subject to serious, even lethal, consequences.

Had these two repeated felons NOT broken into Smith's home, they would both be alive today. Or, perhaps would've suffered the same consequences at someone else's home, seeing as this was a 'fun habit' for them.

This isn't a 'Trayvon Martin' case, out in the open. The scumbags broke into Smith's home. Whether they 'knew' he was home or not, really, is irrelevant.

Haven't really heard the defense, as yet. Just the prosecution's side. I'll wait and reserve judgment until ALL the information (that can be) is presented.

    :dunno:

Had to go look up why this was brought up again, it seems the trial is now taking place.

Apparently CBS news has already reached a verdict on the matter. For those finding the text insufficiently clear on the matter, the use of a mugshot of the homeowner and rather flattering pictures of the two intruders make it patently obvious.

?You?re dead.? Chilling audio of Minnesota homeowner repeatedly shooting unarmed intruders has a pretty good write up on what's actually said on the recordings. Like many of us were saying back in '12, there's a big difference both legally and morally between shooting someone who's breaking into your house vs shooting someone who's breaking into your house and then executing them. I don't see what facts could show he did anything but execute them based on the time line, his own statements, the physical evidence of a .22 under the chin, etc.

....Almost immediately after the first shooting, the rustling of a tarp is heard, then a dragging sound and labored breathing. Smith said he had moved the boy’s body to a workshop in the basement to keep his blood from staining the carpet, the Associated Press reported. The audio continues with the sound of a gun being reloaded. About 11 minutes pass between the two shootings, local reports say.
Kifer’s footsteps are heard on the stairs and she calls out quietly, “Nick?”
Then comes the sound of more shots. She falls down the stairs. “Oh, sorry about that,” Smith tells her. She screams, “Oh my God!”
Then more shots. Smith tells her, “You’re dying,” and calls her a “*****,” the AP reported.
After more labored breathing and another dragging sound, Smith calls her “*****” again. He told authorities that after he moved her, he noticed she was still gasping and didn’t want her to suffer, so he fired under her chin with a 22.-caliber handgun, according to a report in the Pioneer Press. The Star Tribune reported Smith told investigators the last time he fired was “a good clean finishing shot” and “she gave out the death twitch.”....
