This is was posted near the hostess stand in several restaurants w bars during my travels there. So Im not sure your highlighted section is entirely accurate.
    2923.121.
    (A) No person shall possess a firearm in any room in which any person is consuming beer or intoxicating liquor in a premises for which a D permit has been issued under Chapter 4303. of the Revised Code or in an open air arena for which a permit of that nature has been issued.

Would that mean you couldn't even go into the restaurant portion then? That seems crazy... well, most of it did seem crazy before.

I believe that the posted sign is the "old" ORC. I have seen the same sign posted in establishments in OH, before the March, 2015 revisions that allowed carry into bars, etc. as long as you are not drinking (some places still have them up). See link-http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/Law-Enforcement/Concealed-Carry/Concealed-Carry-Laws-Manual-%28PDF%29. Page 10 of the manual addresses this.

Its my understanding that when the entire section is taken together, it only applies to the bar area. (AFAIK this is a pretty recent clarification) I have always seen that sign posted at the entrance to the bar area, or the front door if its a place like Frickers or Hooters (no separate dining area). Or bars are classified one way and bar/restaurant combos are a little different.

Fair point. I wasn't aware of their stance prior to going. Your advice would be to never again spend money at their establishment and attempt no further contact?

That's my stand but I break that rule fairly regularly. Business' don't care about 1 gunowner vs a whole bunch of sheep and that's how they see it. It's unfortunate for us that we thing that the constitution is a valuable document and most people wouldn't recognize it if they saw it.

Some Ohio laws have changed in the past few years... I spent some time working in Maumee in 2010, and at the time it was illegal to possess a firearm in an establishment that served alcohol in Ohio. We had a sign reminding patrons of that fact on the front door, but the sign was not required... Just like schools don't have to remind you it's illegal to carry there.

The link actually has the corrected code that says if you have a valid permit you are ok as long as you don't consume or aren't under the influence of alcohol

Thanks for noticing. I didnt think the text looked quite right so I assumed it was corrected elsewhere. I'll notify the CCW app author that I pulled that text from so they can update the in-app text.

Still puzzles me how I need not only carry a permit in my pocket but also a lawyer in the other to look after myself and the rest of the ducks. But we can walk into a building and legally rip out a child literally by it limbs one at a time or allow a man wearing a wig to legally pull his weapon out next to my 7 yearold granddaughter and not be expected to bat a lash. God bless America & long live the dogooders!

The large gentleman approached from my 4 o'clock. His body language was authoritative, and he had no regard for personal space. He plainly asked me if I had a firearm on me. I responded, with no hesitation and no menace, that I did. He, maintaining his centimeters away stance, said that I had to leave immediately.

Remember this all started with a Mommy Demanding Action and complaining to management about a scary gun. Of course rather than telling Mommy not to worry about it David had to send his thug Buster over to escort you out. So be sure to direct some of your anger and frustration towards Mommy too.
