On another forum it was posted that Feinstein is introducing an "update" AWB bill. If true, her timing is great for the GOP, bad for the community organizer.

I tend to agree with this. I don't have much confidence in the outcome if and when the SCOTUS has another crack at the 2A, especially given the recent comments that Scalia made.

I honestly think that this is BHO's endgame. When he talks about gun control "under the radar", this is his ultimate goal. No reason for a new AWB if the SCOTUS says we no longer have a fundamental right to keep and bear arms!

The last time I looked up the definition of "assault rifle", one of the criteria was that it be capable of full automatic fire. I think those have been out of reach for the general population for quite some time. If you jump through enough hoops you might be able to get one,if I hit the powerball I might try.
As far as banning "evil black rifles",the left still wants to do it,but I don't think they have enough votes right now. Executive orders from a lame duck president are another issue.

While you and I know this to be the case, that "logic" fell on the deaf ears of our dear leaders with the last AWB.

What's an assault weapon? I own nothing that is an assault weapon :)

An assault weapon is whatever the liberal socialists decide it is. Once they ban anll semi autos, they will then go after the single shot rifles calling them "dangerous high powered sniper rifles".

Yes, the gun-grabbers made it quite clear that the pre-Heller Washington DC laws were just perfect in their reckoning.

Democrat, Republican, it really does not matter. Look at some of the Bills that intrude in on our rights that have been voted on by just as many Republicans as Democrats. The Liberals are nothing but sheep, so the whole "political suicide" is complete BS. The Right is not better in a lot of cases. As long as there are sheep voting, there will be crooks in office. Obama does whatever the hell he wants anyways. You think that's going to stop if he gains a second term? They may not institute any "bans", but I guarantee they will find anyway possible to make it harder to purchase/own. Rather if it's bullying gun manufactures, new taxes, etc. If having my head out of the sand makes me paranoid, then, so be it.

I haven't seen any serious discussion of new firearms regulations. There's a lot of hot button issues that have taken its place, like the economy in the tank, two foreign wars, illegal aliens and their status, gay marriage, etc. You just don't hear much about it these days from either party.

This. They have ALOT more issues to tackle before they can even begin the ruckuss they will cause even mentioning a new AWB. Fix the economy, shape up the borders, get our troops home, balance the books (all not in order).

Here you go. No new legislation, no due process, just kick the door in and take them.

The SCOTUS appointments are my biggest concern. I would point out that Roberts was part of the pro gun majority, whether we like his Obamacare decision or not. I also can see him cutting out importation of guns, mags and ammo from foreign countries by regulation or executive order.

I'm with the majority on this one. No. My thought process is this though. Is it career suicide to even attempt it? Yes. Can it happen? Yes. However, look at what happened when NATO wanted the small arms treaty. Fifty someodd reps stood up and said, "We will not." If Obama happens to try it, the same 50 will most likely stand against it. The ones who don't, well we know who to lose come next election.

Of course, the libs would if they could (which is what "Fast and Furious" was really all about). I don't see it happening anytime soon, though. The way gun sales are going the job (thankfully!) gets bigger with each passing day.
