    Way Up North!!
I feel for the mods and fenway here. A decision was handed down, one like we hand down every day in our life when we have kids. We make the decision, we stand behind it. A child is going to try to get you to change your mind, he'll whine, kick his feet etc. In the end it doesn't change our minds.

Now someone please tell me why we as adults can not understand a decision was made? Why can we not understand that no matter how much kicking and screaming we do, it isn't going to change. For fenway and the mods, it isn't one child, it is a large group of grown men and women who feel like they deserve more. They kick and scream louder and won't let it drop. Some even go to the point of leaving. Well those are the smart ones IMHO. Don't like a decision, log out and don't return.

We are guests here, a rule, or judgment if you may, was passed down. Live with it or get out. Stop with the whining and kicking and screaming. If you were my son we'd be in the back room with the paint stick remembering why you follow orders that are given.

geezus with that I am going to go visit with my son for awhile, at least he isn't whining and crying over the rules yet this morning.

I took the liberty of quoting Mrs G from another thread!! I think she says it best!! and come on people the Mods have a ruff job and like Fenway said they won't be getting a paycheck this month!! give em a break!! Lets just enjoy the site like we have in the past!! all you have to do is post a link to what you are discussing!!

Asking for a prayer is not talking about religion. There is no discussion of religion. You are asking someone to either pray to their all powerful being(s) or you are asking (for those that don't pray) to keep someone in their thoughts.

Question for the mods: if someone were to decide to put up a forum where Religion/Politics could be discussed openly, could they mention it here for the purposes of letting folks know where they could go for this sort of discussion?

    1) Politics can still be discussed here; we are asking that members not post topics of a racial or religious nature.

    2) I don't see a problem with posting such a link.

Aye aye Captains, will comply. Not that it matters, but I'm in favor of the copyright deal. As I've voiced in the duplication of LTCH cards, making exact duplicates (possible forgery) may not be illegal, but that doesn't mean you can't be taken to court over it - and it COULD be found to be illegal. Just as I stand by companies choosing not to take that risk I stand by Fenway and INGO. The second, I'm not so fond of but will still comply. INGO is, I mean was one of the few places where such discussions rarely got out of hand online. As our money so points out "In <Censored> We Trust". "One nation under <Censored>..." And for lots more: "TO THE END, that justice be established, public order maintained, and liberty perpetuated; WE, the People of the State of Indiana, grateful to ALMIGHTY <Censored> for the free exercise of the right to choose our own form of government, do ordain this Constitution." - Indiana Code ./const/art1.html-./const/art1.html-./const/art1.html. This is just as UnAmerican as Kraut Pie.

Me wonders who you are p****** too...and if it's just to keep somebody in your thoughts, then why don't you just say so and leave out the religous aspect? I think at the very least, "Religious" needs to be defined. Some people chose to leave out capital G and then call it spiritual instead. Some clarification would be very helpfull.

Aside from the last two which don't fit in that context, all seem to be in reference to G**. That being said, I'm not for closing the P***** Request thread but double standards shouldn't pop up this soon, it's not even 24 hours yet.

No disrespect or "B!tchyness" intended here. I am alittle concerned about the change though. INGO is still the most awsome place on the web, just the bar for "Awsome" got knocked down a few rungs.

My worry is that some future thread, like many past threads, will involve my reasons for taking a particular stand, and many if not most of my reasons are religious in nature. I don't want to offend anyone, especially the mods, with such talk, so I'm contemplating the idea of an alternate forum.

    2) I don't see a problem with posting such a link.

This is probably my greatest fear as well regarding the rules change; that I will simply forget and post an honest answer and end up with an infraction as a result. I know that rules are rules and we need to follow them on here but this one is counterintuitive so it will be tough to remember.

I could not agree more. This is a firearm owners site and should remain exactly that. There are plenty of other sites on the web if people want to go to chat rooms.

Perhaps this would be a good time for us to self police threads that we have started that contained news article quotations. :ingo:
Don't forget, this rule applies to signatures too. Your signature contains a quote from the New Living Translation which is a copyrighted work. I'd suggest quoting from the King James Version which is in the public domain.

You wrote:"INGO is, I mean was one of the few places where such discussions rarely got out of hand online." That's correct, it was, and it was very difficult to keep it that way. We got reports from many members, yes, and one of us would have to go, read the thread, figure out if it was "getting out of hand", and do something if it did.

The two subjects that are most likely to cause dissent are religion and politics. Dissent, in and of itself, is not a bad thing. What we've had here of late has been more than just dissent in and of itself. It's been worse than what I used to see on the old packing dot org site. I've told the story that on PDO, I was once accused of being a "left liberal socialist fascist" because I didn't agree that seeing someone of Middle Eastern descent standing in a doorway up the street, I should (in my accuser's mind) have instantly drawn and fired to kill because that person might/was probably/whatever hiding an AK and would not hesitate to kill me. Yeah. On the basis of a possibility totally unsupported by any evidence, that person was advocating premeditated murder, based on nothing more than religious differences.

Despite idiots like that, I liked PDO until it disappeared. No explanation, no anything, it was just gone. I kept going back to the site over and over, but nothing was ever there again. I don't want to see that happen here, to INGO and to my friends here.

My worry is that some future thread, like many past threads, will involve my reasons for taking a particular stand, and many if not most of my reasons are religious in nature. I don't want to offend anyone, especially the mods, with such talk, so I'm contemplating the idea of an alternate forum.

I would not see a problem with simply saying something on the order of, "My reasons for my beliefs are religious in nature." You've summarized your reason. Taking it beyond such a statement and into what those reasons are would be a religious discussion.

    Hopefully this will be helpful.

    Blessings,
    Bill
