Hey, looks like it is that time of year again.

Some Indian troops were killed by... the Chinese.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-53061476

At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash with Chinese forces in Ladakh in the disputed Kashmir region, Indian officials say.

    But wait... it gets weird.

Local media outlets reported that the Indian soldiers had been "beaten to death" but there was no confirmation from the military.
    ...
Both sides insist no bullet has been fired in four decades, and the Indian army said on Tuesday that "no shots were fired" in this latest skirmish.

    That must've been pretty brutal.

Blowing up that liaison office was a bold move. Still not sure what that really means, though.

The ChiComs are pushing out on all fronts. I don't think they were ready for the Kung Flu to put an end to their smiley face expansion over the globe, now they're going to wear their angry face and do what they wanted to do in the first place...just start taking stuff. They are a dangerous mix of oriental superiority complex and communism as a nation. In response we have begun overflights of Taiwan proper, the Mandarin dictators protested, Taiwan announced that they are in full control of their airspace. Xi has told the PLA to be prepared to take the island. Next move China.

If there must be war...then let there be war.

US - Japan relations in the 30s redux

    Something learn from history something

I have little doubt there will be war unless they fracture internally first

It is ChiCom law that any territory claimed is theirs, for any ChiCom to relinquish any territory claimed is considered treason. No doubt they will soon claim the Indian Ocean, vast swaths of space and the moon...even if only the dark side...and they will go to war to defend their claims.

The Republic of China has been in fact an independent nation separate from ChiComLand...but if they say the words in public they will go to war. They may be surprised how difficult that war will be as they have succeeded in pissing off every last on of their neighbors and us.

Yeah, Taiwan is particularly vulnerable with the US... otherwise engaged.

If China decided to take back the island, it would probably be over before we could do anything about it. That's actually Taiwan's strategy - survive long enough to get rescued.

IMHO the tariff fight was a self-inflicted gouge, but once that decision was made, I don't think its fair to "blame" Trump for meeting or trying to negotiate out of it. That was basically the reason for it, to get leverage to negotiate stuff.

Gunboat diplomacy is what was lacking. But we don't really have the gunboats we used to, so there's that.

Maybe we could kick off the economy with another dreadnought weapons race.
Oh, if only the people of the world had been wise enough to limit their militaries to black powder.
Giving them internal combustion engines was such a really big booboo.

Finally, the first signs of the US actually holding China accountable for their death camps.

I've heard rumors about a possible kinetic war with China coming over the horizon, this appears to be the first signs.

Which reminds me to pack up a copy of "One Minute After" along with the photovoltaic books going to the niece in the desert.
I've got a Mexican crank handle corn grinder somewhere around here. Bet she doesn't have one of those.
