Yea I got the same letter too. Aside from the obvious waste of money in postage and paper, what is the damn deal with five different languages at the bottom of the page? Since this is the USA and the official language is ENGLISH (or I thought it was), get those damn chicken scratches off the bottom of the page. In my opinion, if someone dosen't understand english then they're probably not a legit. tax paying citizen. If you pay taxes and have a social security number, then the feds already know who you are and how many of us there are.
Sorry for the rant of a dumb rural white boy from IN.:twocents::xmad:

reped.glad someone else is tired of having to always be politicly correct. never filled out a census form yet and dont intend to now. they seem to know where i live and who i am already. maybe ill fill one out in spanish.

At first when I opened it I was angry at the waste of my tax dollars, but then after thinking about it I realized that the letter might be the only thing I truly ever got in direct return for my taxes paid!

Think I will frame that letter with the caption: I paid for THIS?!?!

Nope didn't get one, maybe when the census form comes I'll claim my dog will eat it. Do you think the "non legit" get one to fill out? Surely they do, and they all pay taxes, and have car insurance to right?

The wife just walked into the living room complaining about getting a letter about the upcoming census. "What a waste of paper and postage" She did not even know I was reading this forum. I guess I know where she stands on this.

Man, you guys are behind. I got my "warning letter" 3 weeks ago and got my census papers a week and a half ago.

Do I have to fill it out if its not my proper address on it?

Yeah... benefits galore... more teachers and more desks, right? I heard that commercial too. :puke:

The real use of the census is to amass updated demographic data so the Federal Government can redraw the political districts within the states, to promote favorable elections the ruling party.

All that, and it is an easy (and unconstitutional) way to collect & catalog private information about US Citizens.

But scare people about "not getting their fair share" of Federal intrusion and look what our formerly free citizens turn into.

I'd like to know exactly how much of OUR money was wasted delivering those worthless letters. (I got one too.)
My son is a Mail Carrier and was mandated to work overtime to deliver that crap.
    Oh Yeah.
How many trees do you suppose were wasted by the Govt to deliver the notices. I'll bet the "Tree Huggers" will have a conniption when they figure it out.

Anyone in the military should be used to this. We used to have formations just to tell us when the next formation was.

Rather than sending our money to the fed and letting them redistribute it, why don't we keep our money here?

That's the difference between "what the rules should be" and "playing by the rules as they are."

We certainly should keep more of our money here ("more" because there are legitimate expenses of government for which some degree of taxation is justified). However until we can accomplish that it's just foolish not to take advantage of existing rules so as to get as much of that money as possible back.

We are Indiana. We're going to lose the battle of getting back as much as possible every time. We don't have the political clout to do anything about it.

You seem to have some confusion about what "as much as possible" means. What we cannot get is not part of "as possible." The question is: can we get more "back" by doing something as opposed to not doing something.

And if we don't have the political clout to get more back, we also don't have the political clout to stop it from going in the first place.

I suppose we could just stop producing entirely. Galt would approve. However, the "catch" is that, lacking a "Galt's gulch" all that accomplishes is to impoverish oneself even more. If I make $75K per year and get to "keep", say $40K, how am I better off "making" $35K of which I only keep $20K? It's a matter of cutting off one's nose to spite ones face.

The game is over. The jig is up. Yes, Obama may not get reelected but his voters aren't going to go away. We CANNOT maintain status quo in this country and survive economically. We don't have politicians who are willing to cut entitlements. The majority of the people don't want entitlements cut so it won't happen.

If you can come up with a workable plan that expells all liberals and socialists from our country, I'm all ears. Voting Obama simply won't do it. The socialists will just find another replacement in a few years. We have to eliminate socialists so they can no longer be a political force. Again, show me how you are going to do that.

The rope is there and you will be hung by it. The only question left to answer is who's tying the noose. You or them?
