Just off the phone with the General manager from Dicks sporting goods east Washington Indianapolis IN after checking my credit cars statement and seen that they cancel my order, He at first played stupid that he did not know about the Troy AR's orders been cancel then he accepted knowing but by that time I was already very upset (polite term). then he went on to ask me (have you watch the news?) and the rest of the words that came out of his mouth were very stupid coments bla bla bla but in the it doesnt matter DS suck!!!!!, I will tell as many people as I can about the level of costumer service that I experience (the worst I ever experince) and that I would rather spend double the money some place else were they really care about me.

Calm down with the exclamation marks, man, one gets the point across.

As I see it, it's Dick's prerogative if they want to stop selling AR style weapons. More money for local gun shops is always a good thing. What's unfortunate here is that they weren't up front with you; they should have notified you immediately and made their intentions clear.

Never been a fan of Dick's. It's mostly a store for soccer mom's. Not surprised they made this move. Soccer mom's are the majority of their customers and they want to keep them happy.

I have only bought shotgun shells there one time, and I will never do it again. I had 250rds in my cart (because I had a competition that weekend), and you would have thought I was doing something illegal because they had to call the manager up to the front, get my drivers license (for each box of 25rds) then escort me out of the store with my order; The look on the employees faces as to the amount I was buying did not make be happy either... Last time I will be buying anything there.

Yeah, the Dick's around us does not seem all that gun friendly either. They have some nice hunting rifles and such, but I always get the feeling that they really don't like selling guns and ammo.:dunno:

Why are people surprised shopping at a place named Dicks that they get the shaft???

It was really an unfortunate day when Galyans sold out to them...

I have six grandkids. Three of them eat, sleep and live sports, and I think one of the little girls will be athletic also. After the last time they carded me for two stinking boxes of shotgun shells, I decided enough was enough and also banned the Mrs. from buying presents for the kids from there. Then I sent a letter to the store manager explaining why we would not be shopping their store any more. And this was before the whole AR issue. With a slack economy, and each retailer fighting hard for a continually shrinking piece of market share, I do believe that kind of letter will be read and receive attention. Buy some stamps and let your voice be heard.

I figured as much, there was another member on here who said they called one of the stores and was told that they wouldn't be cancelling anyone's order but I figured they would.

I rarely go into Dicks, but I was killing some time and went into a store about a month ago. I went by their ammo and the had .38s on sale (well for a decent price anyway) so I cleaned them out, and bought nothing else. The cashier gave me a dirty look.

So they cancelled the Troy orders?
That doesn't surprise me at all.
I've been to a few of their stores when I was working out of town and just trying to kill time. They looked pretty yuppie/soccer mom to me.
They don't want your/our money? Well that's fine by me. Forever.

Well, considering I don't have any desire to pay hundreds of dollars for a fleece that has a little North Face logo on the right shoulder I have almost no need to every go into a Dick's store. I did have to buy a gift card there the other day, though, and the cashier lived up to the name of the store.

Bad customer service, anti-gun stance, overpriced soccer mommy crap. Yep, I have no problem adding them to my boycott list.

This is probably the only good reason I've seen to boycott the store. If they choose not to continue to sell rifles, that's their business, but it seems they should at least honor the orders that have already been made. The guy at the gun counter here in Lafayette told me he thought they were going to, but I guess when corporate tells them to do something they don't have much of a choice.

Sounds like breach of contract, to me.

I would not think a contract exists in this transaction. Only a due diligence offer to special order an item from the manufacture. I knew this was going to happen on the Troys and does not surprise me in the least. You know Troy has been cranking to fill the prepaid orders placed by Dick's customers so somewhere out there is a boatload of finished and almost finished Troy rifles ready to ship somewhere. I would not be surprised if Troy does not go direct to the consumer here shortly and sell to the customers who have receipts from a canceled Dick's order. That is what I would do if I to unload the rifles before a ban takes place. Seeing Dicks did the pull out, I would think any exclusive contract for distribution Troy had with Dicks is null and void.
