I have six grandkids. Three of them eat, sleep and live sports, and I think one of the little girls will be athletic also. After the last time they carded me for two stinking boxes of shotgun shells, I decided enough was enough and also banned the Mrs. from buying presents for the kids from there. Then I sent a letter to the store manager explaining why we would not be shopping their store any more. And this was before the whole AR issue. With a slack economy, and each retailer fighting hard for a continually shrinking piece of market share, I do believe that kind of letter will be read and receive attention. Buy some stamps and let your voice be heard.

I plan to do more than that, I will let every person that I become in contact with and my whole family about how much they suck and all the sudden now have a conscious. What about six months ago? They still selling evil firearms that could kill people at long distances and evil shotgun that could kill just as much as any other firearm, not to mention this year the E Washington store sold a shotgun that a person use to kill himself in their parking lot so I remind people about that and as many people as I can.

How much free advertising did they get when they pulled their AR's? You've couldn't have bought the type of advertising they received with their logo plastered all over the news on every station. It was marketing, not compassion that made them do it. They're just as greedy as the rest of the places doubling the prices of AR's. The place makes me sick to my stomach, and I wish we could get something else in the Indy area like a Bass Pro or Cabela's. I have no idea why this market is so pathetic???

Curious to know the situation between Troy and Dicks now. From what I understand, Dicks IS THE EXCLUSIVE retailer for Troy AR rifles. If Dicks decides not to do anything for the next few months and leaves Troy hanging...not sure if Troy can sell to anyone else if they are still contractually obligated to Dicks. This will be an interesting story to follow...

I hadn't heard anything about Dick's being the exclusive seller but one thing for certain is Troy doesn't need them when it comes to getting rifles sold.

A lot of people on this forum seem to like to obey authority: "their store, their rules," or "their forum, their rules." But then when it comes to firearms, somehow it's "their store, my rules!" I don't care about the issue at hand one way or the other, but you have gotta be consistent!

Well, I have never bought a gun at Dicks, but they have periodically had some good sales on ammo. I have, on those occassions, bought cartloads. Only got good service, no nasty looks--even from the teenage checkout girls. Certainly not from the gun counter guys. I have also bought a fair amount of hunting related gear from them at reasonable prices withn help from guys who hunt and knew what they were talking about. This is just more posturing and chest pounding as far as I'm concerned. If they don't carry guns anymore IDC cause I've never planned to buy one there anyway since they are almost always more $$ than somewhere else in town. I've got news for you too, Northface is fracking expensive everywhere, not just Dicks.

I have made a firm resolution though; I refuse to buy a gun from any vendor that has chosen not to sell guns. And that is final.

I have only bought shotgun shells there one time, and I will never do it again. I had 250rds in my cart (because I had a competition that weekend), and you would have thought I was doing something illegal because they had to call the manager up to the front, get my drivers license (for each box of 25rds) then escort me out of the store with my order; The look on the employees faces as to the amount I was buying did not make be happy either... Last time I will be buying anything there.

I went there not too long ago and bought 200rds because they had the upland game Winchester value packs for buy one get one 50percent off. I should have bought a few more. They didn't give me any problems.

Wont be going back either after this recent stuff that has happened with Dicks and CTD though.

This was the one in Indy by the Mall and Logans Steak House. On Washington Street, or Historical Blvd or whatever it's called.

The only firearms-related items I've ever bought from Dicks is bricks of CCI SV (cuz they're about the only place I know of that has them locally) and Winchester Dynapoint GT 22LR ammo.

I've bought a fair amount of running gear there - shoes, shorts, shirts, socks, etc.

If Dicks made a corporate decision to stop selling evil black rifles as an emotional response to Newtown, as stupid as I think it is that would be fine..but voluntarily not honoring backorders that were made with them in good faith is a VERY poor business practice, not one easily forgotten with a $100 gift card.

Not abiding by their word (and since plenty of folks have reported being told "If you paid for one, you'll get one" counts to me as "their word") will lead me to make all my sports-related purchases at other retailers.

HINT HINT - hey Orion Arms, start carrying 500ct bricks of CCI SV!

This idiot has been posting on Dick's facebook page like crazy. Thinks they should ban all semi auto's and just go back to revolvers. He really thinks guns should go away. He really knows nothing about firearms.

    Thank you for... | Facebook

I am done commenting on his posts. He has posted the same comment once a day for hte past three days.

In another observation, the anti gun people are getting rare on Dick's facebook page. The people who think they are wrong for pulling AR style rifles are staying the same.

Why are people surprised shopping at a place named Dicks that they get the shaft???

It was really an unfortunate day when Galyans sold out to them...

Yes. That was the day a good store turned into a bad one. Immediately they stopped selling handguns and many other things...
