I'm about to be a daddy! :rockwoot: (See thread: https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/break-room/441105-baby-jagee.html)

Aside from the obvious, diapers/wipes/toys/etc. what else should I be looking at to carry in the diaper bag? My wife is very list-happy and I had to find some online with the basics...but I'm curious about first-aid kits, flashlights, more "EDC" type stuff that would be helpful with a baby.

Congratulations! Get ready for a life changing event.

We had an inventoried portable pharmacy for our first son and by #2 we were lucky to have 2 diapers and a half dozen wipes. Trust me when I tell you this, your wife already has all the non essentials tucked away in her purse.

First time parents are fun but you can definitely spot the parents with multiple children because a McDonald's napkin and a drinking fountain = wet wipes. I remember how neurotic I was for my first son but lived with wreck less abandon with #2.

Change of clothes. Later on after they start eating solid food, snacks on top of snacks. A hungry baby is a angry baby. I’m sure I’ll think of more. Dad of three here.

    2 or 3 outfits/onsies.

Wipable changing pad (most purpose-built diaper bags will come with one)

    A small receiving blanket

2 or 3 competent plastic grocery bags.

Nitrile gloves (though we never did...hands do wash, after all)

Desitin / aquaphor / other diaper rash cream

A pacifier, with a clip that you can connect it to your baby's clothes. We had a lot of luck with the pacifiers that are attached to a small stuffed animal.

some type of matt or towel to lay the baby on the change diapers. A lot of places don't believe men's restrooms need a changing table, so we get the floor.

More outfits. 4+5 diapers (depending on length of stay), outfits (diapers +1). Wipes. A lot of Wipes. Then some more wipes. Babies poop. A lot. More wipes. A roll of dog poop bags (or similar small trash bags). A backup pacifier if you kid goes for that. Other than that, you should be good to go.

    Congrats!

I have no advice. I remember those days well, however, as I was the primary caregiver for my oldest son's first year. I'm sure everything is better than it was 20 years ago.

What an adventure! I remember those days. One thing you may or may not have though of is a camera. Although these days most every cellphones have them. You will want to record lots of memories.

A couple bottles of water. Good for so many things besides drinking. As they get older juice boxes and small snacks.
