While I like Rick a lot, and yes, even pulled the lever for Rick, I would be surprised if he were to make another run. I have liked him for years, and this last time around I felt he was by far the best out of the group. This time around Rand and maybe Cruz may be the head contenders. I think he would be wasting his time and money.

So, since this thread is actually about republicans and not libertarians, are you going to do anything to stop the likes of Santorum or do you even have a candidate of choice?

I am not going to give it much thought until some time after the mid term congressional elections are done.

Like I said, the LP hasn't chosen one, yet. But, it won't surprise me if it isn't Johnson, again...

So you think that Johnson is a viable candidate?
I would think that you would be encouraged by an easy to hate/beat candidate like Santorum running?

Nope. I might pull the lever for Johnson, but I have no thought that he could win in this country, as much as the majority from both sides hate liberty. I'd rather see a split ticket with a gop candidate who is at least nominally a liberty based candidate. Paul might possibly fit in that category. Huntsman is acceptable and sane, which is a refreshing change from a majority of the gop candidates last go around. Amash might work out OK in time. And I do see Johnson as a viable candidate. Two term governor of NM and a self made millionaire? Someone who's actually created jobs, which Santorum can't say. Yeah, Johnson's a great candidate and more on the gop side should be looking at him and not at some of the fools they've allowed to run.

Santorum couldn't get re-elected in his home district and yet he thinks he's presidential material. Probably not the best nominee.

Let's see, you would vote for:

    1. A self-made millionaire (a surefire proletariat-pleaser characteristic, as we've seen), who

    2. Was governor of one of the biggest democratic welfare states west of the Mississippi, and left it such.

Wow. Yeah...that's so much better than Romney. In fact, the only thing that could be better, is if he was a Mormon! But I see you already have that angle covered, with your approbation for the "Sane" Mr. Huntsman - who supports Cap and Trade, increase in the Federal Minimum Wage, and presided over 10% increases in state spending while he was Governor of Utah (HUGE Libertarian bona-fides there).

Now I suspect I see the real reason the GOP keeps churning out such an incessant stream of Big Government RINO candidates. They're following MRJarrell's candidate-picking advice.

Gary Johnson vetoed 750 bills during his time in office. If that isn't fighting to change the status quo, I don't know what is. I would be absolutely giddy if we had a governor veto that many bills, it means they actually stand for something.

Nuts don't fall too far from the tree. I think Rand Paul would be a poor choice. His father wanted to legalize heroin.....

Grunt, as we all know from your posts and threads you won't be voting for a democrat. We also know you won't be voting for a Libertarian. You have now said you won't be voting for Rand. I'm simply curious about who you support. Who exactly would you like to see elected as president?

Rand so far I would vote for.

Cruz so far I would vote for, but sounds like he is out by choice.

Rubio just took himself out with his immigration catastrophe

Christie has become such a wart on Obummers butt you can't tell where one starts and other begins.

Santorum is kind of kooky, goofy, and won't stand up to the fight.

Newt is considered bat poop crazy, and may be. But he does stand up and fight. Of course sometimes he fights himself, so he can't win.

The only person I have seen thus far, that will be able to put up any sort of fight, is Rand.

Romney just laid back and took punches afraid to say anything. McCain did same. GOP will probably put forth another copy of this because if hasn't worked before it must work now. I think the GOP has put it's head up it's arse and sown it in. I feel we are headed toward EU socialism then communism (saw an article today they (EU) were looking to regulate and control all seeds!!)

To have any chance whatsoever. The GOP will need someone that will have a good message and stay on message. More than that, they need a bull dog willing to fight it out. If we wait to fight, we lose. If we don't fight, we lose. We sure as poop shouldn't be doing what the dems think we should do. If they are catterwalling and screaming bloody murder, the GOP is probably doing something right. But in typical GOP fashion that will pick some metro sexual long term barely moderate politician that is too afraid to be called a fighter for a fight that must happen. Instead the GOP will go with the "We will give you free stuff too, just not as much" and wonder why they pissed everybody off and votes are down again. Heck, we already have factions trying to help get more votes for the DEMS, and the DEMS are LOVING IT!!

The dems have already done an excellent job of turning the GOP on itself. The aristocratic establishment, the typical uniformed but always GOP voters, the younger Tea Party and Libertarian crowd. We destroy each other before we can even fight the enemy. If we can't all get on some sort of same page, we doomed.

Divide and conquer has thus far been working really well for the DEMS. And has already put the country in the sewer. We are not lost to sea yet, but are nerve rackingly close.

Youreally don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. No-one ever vetoed as many bills as he did. He had a deficit when he entered office and left the state with lower taxes and a surplus when he left office. He also managed to decrease the size of government. He, unlike the majority of gop candidates, has actually created jobs, not destroyed them.

Judging from the tenor of his posts he'd be satisfied with Santorum. Or Stalin.

With their declared war on gun ownership from one end of the country to another, I can't imagine too many people here voting for a Democrat.

Yes. We get it. You don't like L/libertarians. We've heard it all before. Go eat popcorn somewhere else.
Says the man who goes out of his way to point out the problems with Republicans. And even starts threads to do it.

Oh, silly mrjarrel, you can't fool us. We know this is just another one if byour ways to show how much superior you think Libertarians are over Republicans. It so is about the Libertarians.
