Applied online, L1, and paid local on 1/3.
Local held on to app until I called them on 4/1 and then sent to ISP
    Issued 6/24
    Received 6/26

So, the ltch was issued almost exactly 12 weeks from when the local sent it on. My wait was a bit longer due to local.. My advice. Check with your local if you fall outside the 12 week window.

    Hope the info helps

22 weeks today! BCB (reckless driving,) previous (expired) carry license. Still waiting, of course, and nothing of any value to contribute to the thread, just got tired of the forum telling me to post something.

Post anytime you want, even if you have nothing relevant to say. This thread offers information and support. Rant, rave, offer words of encouragement to others. Trust me, it will help you get through the wait.

I wish I could have a huge rant for you folks right now, but I'm just beaten.
I applied the old fashioned way on Feb. 6th.
I went up to the county building to check on the status, when they tell me they can't find me in the system, they direct me to my local PD.
I go to the local folks, they tell me they cannot find it either, they have me wait while they call ISP.
ISP says they also, cannot find my info.
I provide all of my documents pertaining to the permit process, including receipts and a pink copy stating it was processed.
They tell me that they apologize, but I would need to re-apply. As for the cost, I would need to get a refund from the state for my money orders and then re-submit.
I thank them for their time and return home, a broken man. I work in security, the unarmed locations are cutting hours to cut spending, I have a promotion and a steady stream of locations to work, once I get my permit. Now that I will have to start over, my employer honestly stated that he isn't sure if he can keep me, as I cannot carry on site.
I just recently purchased a home for my family on the prospects of this job. And now, because the system failed me, my future is looking grim.
congrats to all those who got theirs, and to those still waiting, double check, dont let my misfortunes happen to you

How do you not have an application number that they can track?

I'm sure you've explored all avenues, but something just doesn't pass the smell test. Paperwork just doesn't disappear. Your app has to be somewhere.

    :dunno:

ya know fellas, i asked the same questions, but as blood was boiling at that point, i mainly just blurted out in-audibles i.e. "whu?" "bu" "heh, how?"
i did it all in the county bldg, they got nothing, said i should have done it at local pd, said they probably sent it there, local pd says they got nothing, says county shouldn't have even processed in the first place, just should have sent me to local in the beginning.
so somebody, somewhere, somehow, lost the thing along the way. it sucks, it sucks bad. but i dont see anything else to do other than re-apply

No argument, it sucks. This time do the online app, electronic prints, go pay your local in person (and get a receipt). With any luck, you'll be in the pink in 12-14 weeks.

Hopefully your boss will understand. If not, send him to us. We'll vouche for you.

I thought you could carry on private property if you have permission from the owner. If this is so I would think you wouldn't need a LTCH. Unless your contract/policy/job description states that you need a LTCH before they'll give you permission.

I called local every couple of days until they sent it. The chief said "I'll send that right out on Monday." I called that Monday and he hadn't sent it. Called again two days later and he hadn't sent it. He apologised and said he would send it that day. I emailed ISP and they got it that day. All total it was only 6 days from when I paid local to when they submitted to ISP.

I just called ISP. Explained I emailed them twice with no responce. Last email sent April 4th. I told her all fees paid and L1 on 1/8/13. She then told me she can not give me any information because of the privacy act laws....... How in the world are you people getting information??

Well I do have a felonious jaywalking conviction, guess I'm out of luck

Pretty sure the ISP does an FBI criminal background check, I wouldn't assume that it's that much more rigorous than the one you go through when you buy a gun.

I was told that they actually get documentation about each criminal matter and go thru them (I guess to look for a reason to maybe DQ us?).

I was told that by a Sergeant at the ISP who was in the LTCH permit dept. at the time.

:ugh: Oh no...sounds like they found another "LoopHole" to keep from having to answer for what is going on there !

That would make sense why it takes so long for those in the bad citizen brigade to get their permits. To get all the documentation from the courts and PDs both in and out of state.

No criminal history ever. And..............................I have heard nothing. Should I try the email? If so what is it?

I'm trying to make some kind of sense out of your situation and it's not adding up?

You did your application at a County building instead of at your local PD?

    Why?

Who said that they'd take it over to the Local PD for you and once again why are they doing this instead of you?

Lastly...if the State cashed your money orders..then no matter what happened at your local level....the State somehow got everything...right?

I guess I'm just not sure as to why you need to re-apply if the State actually CASHED your money orders?

What I'm saying is tell us the whole story, as to why you applied at the county instead of at the PD and who said what and why?

I'm not trying to question you or what you did....I'm just trying to make your situation make a little more sense to me and some of the others here who may be wondering what happened...because it's just not making any sense at all to me?

You would think that when they cash your MO or payment that means it went through. Guess not apparently. Sorry to hear about that!

The email's haven't been a very reliable way to get any info...you usually get a "canned" reply with a "cut-and-paste" letter about the whole situation.

You're about a MONTH past what most people are seeing with similar stats as yours though...so I'd also try to maybe call (most report little luck with that too...but it's worth a try).

Here's an email to try though:

That's what I was thinking too....if they would of told us that...we could've gathered that info and sent it in too.

Also, you'd think that maybe the local would've done that as part of their "Preliminary Background" check ?

Is it true that if you go through L1, they are the ones who do the background check? It kind of helps to explain why the local PD does it too. Seems a little redundant if PD and ISP both do what only needs to be done once. I don't know, it's pretty confusing :dunno:
