    Just to update:

I did the online application, finger printed and paid at Speedway PD on 1/11/2013. I emailed ISP last night and got a reply back around 8:45AM this morning. The email I sent just asked if there was any way to look up my application and see where it was in the system and was signed with my first and last name. The email in return said...

    "Mr. Hdfb03,

If you are the same Hdfb03 that finger printed at Speedway PD on January 11, 2013 then you can currently anticipate your permit sometime around the end of April or first of May. however, we have added some staffing and are working overtime in an effort to reduce that turnaround time. We have experienced a 500% increase in volume of applications since November 2012, which is directly causing the delay. Thank you for your email and your patience."

Obviously I wasn't excited to hear that it will be late April/early May, but I will say I am happy to at least have some sort of a more accurate expectation. I am not holding him to this purely bc I know things can happen, but at the same time this lets me know that it is in the system and around when I should receive it. If you look at recent posts here you have people who have called in and they said they are working on December apps, then others say November apps, and some have said January apps. For some reason this email puts my mind a little more at ease knowing an estimate on when it could arrive rather than mixed dates they are "working on". Just my :twocents:.

I emailed him back letting him know that I appreciate his quick response and hopefullyi they see a light at the end of the tunnel in getting a bit less busy.

I just read an article about the top 10 days and weeks of record gun sales. It seems to reflect the LTCH wait times somewhat. If so, it doesn't look like the long wait will let up for we who applied in February. The latest record day was Feb 15. And this past week was up from the previous week.

I bet he never thought that by trying to "get rid of guns" he would end up being the number one salesman ever.

    Pssst, over here
    Must be nice

I was holding off on my 50th post to coincide with what I was sure would be the receipt of my LTCH. Unfortunately, that is not going to be the case. I went the traditional (non-L1) method and I would encourage anyone trying to get a LTCH to fork over the extra 10 bucks.

App and fingerprint at Lawrence Township PD 10/09/2012
Received at ISP / Money order cashed 10/16/2012
Made it to background check stage approx. 01/28/2013 told even with history 3 to 4 more weeks.
Called Monday and they are still waiting on a disposition from an arrest in Ohio in 1986. One and only arrest when I was 18 clean record since then. The past did come back to haunt me :nopity:

Am I the only one that is starting to think those in the ISP office need to be sent a big THANKYOU? Yes they are doing their job. But how many of us would want a 400% workload increase? Plus getting calls on it? PLUS seeing the workload continue to increase? I know I'd be stressed trying to get caught up. Maybe I'm just strange. :)

I think thats actually a pretty cool idea, not sure if it could be done or not. But it would be kind of neat if they got some sort of a thank you from INGO members.

I started the process last December. got my finger prints done electronically. I live in Carmel and was told i had to wait to meet the Carmel Chief of Police then it would be filed. That date was set for March 1st. So there I sit just waiting. Then January 31st the police department said there was a policy change because Carmel was getting 30 requests per day and the Chief of Police couldn't keep up with the demand. They said to come in anytime and get the last phase with them done. I was there February 1st. They told me I should expect 4 to 8 weeks from then. I have called back and confirmed it's in the stack somewhere wherever that stack is for Indiana. Still hoping to get mine by the end of this month or early next month.

Not like the local Chief of Police was adding any value in the process anyway ... I wish this discretionary piece by the locals would get changed. I did not have this issue in Hendricks County as there is no requirement to meet with anyone particular from the local side, but it just irritates me when I see others have to deal with it.

This was one of the nice parts of the process when I lived in FL 20 years ago. You were fingerprinted by the locals, but the card was returned to you to submit with the entire packet of info directly to the state. No local involvement, discretionary or otherwise was a part of the process.

I actually thought of this, too, and sent a follow-up email telling the recipient to pass it on to the crew that I appreciated the work they are doing and that others agree even if they don't necessarily say it.

Who knows? It may even fuel them on to go faster. :):
