So because tax revenues failed to hit projections, this is a fail? You guys must really hate the weatherman.

$44 million in tax revenue. How much money saved for not bothering with misdemeanor dope arrests? Any uptick in other crimes attributed to the legalization of pot? Any major rifts in society as a result?

Still early for me to declare success or failure, personally, but I still think its an experiment well worth doing and so far it appears the positives outweigh the negatives.

    Excellent post.

Are Libertarians really the only ones in favor of legalizing marijuana?

Part of the sales package that they pushed was the enhanced revenue which would benefit the productive class.

Now they are running away from it. Just like all politicians it seems, no different.

If you are advancing Liberty, aren't you allowed to lie, cheat and steal, and do other things all in the Name of The Pure?

Kirk, are you going to back up these assertions or just let it stand that you're full of ****?

Let's hear it. Which libertarians participated in 'lying' about the amount of revenue to be gained?

I too am interested in knowing the names of the specific Libertarians that lied, what they said, when they said it. Along with some other examples of Libertarians in such high places of political power that have used that power to perpetuate lies and subterfuge on the American public. Then compare that number to the number of 2 party dinosaurs that have done the same thing (imagine clicking sounds like someone adding things up on an adding machine), subtract the amount of seats Libertarians hold from number of seats available (click click), divide by the anti-liberty quotient, and multiply by the overall douchbaggery factor.

Result? Oh yeah, Libertarians are nothing in comparison to the 2 party dinosaurs that have pushed this nation to a) the brink of bankruptcy b) civil war c) overall collapse

Well, for starters, the gun banning liars at the Cato Institute.

They even funded a 2010 study about how much revenue it would bring in, now they say "never mind".

Look, I understand that you don't like being called on these lies, but can't we just admit that Libertarians are no different than any other politician? They are just more self-righteous liars.

Only way repubs get on board with increased liberty is the promise of a sin tax.

That's how it was sold and now the productive class is left holding the bag (potentially) to make up that lost revenue from the dopers who just got a free ride on their backs.

What lost revenue? Did you fail basic arithmetic in elementary school? The legalised pot raised revenues over what they previously had. You're getting worse at your trolling.

Colorado voters overwhelmingly supported state taxes on marijuana, and the state collected tens of millions of dollars in the first year of legalization. But in a strange twist, all those taxes raised from pot may have to be refunded because of a quirk in the state’s constitution. That means money earmarked for schools and drug prevention programs could be lost unless lawmakers agree on a solution.

So...let's see...Colorado voters. Are those the libertarians you're so pissed at? A whole states worth? Or are you pissed off that a conservative amendment to the states Constitution, (supported by republicans) might see the windfall of taxes (which did appear) being refunded to the taxpayers of Colorado? You're really stretching, Freeman. They made and paid a lot of taxes. And there will likely be lots more in the future. You're *****ing because a state law, enacted with republican support, may mean that taxes over a certain amount will get refunded. And you dare call yourself a conservative? You're just another whiny republican lapel puller, pissed that the government isn't getting more money. I called it earlier.

They money that was already spent and now (may) need to be refunded will come from those that pay taxes. The productive class will be asked to pay for the play of another class.

horn, I wouldn't think BBI is a doper. He just didn't understand the dynamics.

So you set your budget based on projected revenues? I bet you get an OJ level case every year, don't you. Hell, build your budget on 5 OJ cases a year.

Is stoned yoga a thing in Colorado?
