People wildly overestimated the tax revenue from pot prior to the vote? I find that hard to believe.

Anyhoo, that the state will not be making much money from this does not surprise me....but I'm torn.

That people would avoid the tax by going the "medical" route or sticking with "old-fashioned" supply lines....utterly unsurprising.

it is not because of lost revenue. CO has had a law that limits how much tax the state can collect each year.. They collected more tax in 2014, so they have to give it back.. Pot probably makes up a bulk of the extra income, but OIl / gas may have added to that also..
I can not find the details on the TBOR , but if it is like AK then the refunds will only go to residents of the state.

That is one thing the article says. It says several other things about why pot tax revenue isn't coming close to what was estimated....not the least of which was a wild overestimate of the projected tax revenue. In normal life, we call that a "lie". But hey, it helped get the law passed so that's OK, right?

I doubt they'll be refunding anyone their $8. 30.5 million dollars to play with? That s*** will be gone in a heartbeat. Let's just hope it goes to something useful.

    .
With a good law/lobby firm in the industry's employ, soon the government will be subsidizing it. I couldn't believe reading that Indiana subsidizes race horse farms with casino money a few years ago, the "Sport of Kings". You can do just about anything with cash and the right connection.

Kirk is a funny sort of guy. Here he is decrying a conservative tax policy voted in by the people of Colorado. Guess he's just another big tax loving republicrat, but we already knew that, didn't we?

Decrying the fraud and misrepresentation which is standard operating procedure for Libertarians.

Nope, yet another misrepresentation, big surprise. I just grow sick of Libertarian lies.

So because tax revenues failed to hit projections, this is a fail? You guys must really hate the weatherman.

$44 million in tax revenue. How much money saved for not bothering with misdemeanor dope arrests? Any uptick in other crimes attributed to the legalization of pot? Any major rifts in society as a result?

Still early for me to declare success or failure, personally, but I still think its an experiment well worth doing and so far it appears the positives outweigh the negatives.

Don't overlook all the twisted conservative panties because of expanded freedoms.
