I was in junior high in early 90s and I chose whacks over detention
Simply because detentions after school made me miss the bus then I had to deal with my dad for the aggravation it caused him. He was one of those "ain't nobody gonna beat my kid but me" types. So the vice principal gave me a choice. My vice principal was my dad's art teacher when he was in high school. Oddly enough one of the times I was getting whacked I had gotten in trouble for horseplay at lunch break where some other kids and I were beating each other with switches that had blown down off the trees. Kids need to fear some type of authority figure and the **** that kids get away with in high schools without teachers being able to maintain order or even defend themselves of some student wants to act like a thug and put their hands on teachers or other students I am in favor of even more harsh penalties than being paddled.
