He has to play out the season and be dang good down it to get a big contract. His accolades will be three seasons old when the contract period comes. He needs to prove it.

Look at the fins rookie RB tearing it up, probably makes less than a million, that is what teams are looking at. JT MUST play and well or he will be lucky to get much more that he is getting now in guaranteed money…

I'm starting to believe Leonard never makes it back to where he once was. I'm not sure he's in the league in 2 or 3 years. He might be, but it seems like a long shot at this point in time.

If he can play a couple of games and show he's as good as before the injury then why play out the season and risk injury?

Colts are going to have to have a tough conversation this off-season about Leonard. I believe there’s an out in his contract this year.

And what will the Colts do if JT were to have, ahem, continued discomfort in his ankle that prevents his full participation? Hey coach, my back hurts. Hey coach, I tweeked a hammy. I have a headache, my pinky is in concusion protocol.... I didn't get the impression JT wants to play for the shoe. His words weren't obtuse but they sure weren't oozing commitment either. Time will tell.
How does JT get paid, pulling stunts like that?

Nobody can explain to me how such shenanigans help his case.

He must show the league he is a stud or fall into obscurity. There are no other choices…
Exactly. There already is no market for RBs in free agency. His trade demand showed how low RB trade value is. The 2023 tagged RBs all bent the knee. The 2024 draft class is stacked with RBs.

It sucks for JT, but it is what it is. He's too intelligent not to know that his only recourse is to play, to play now, and to play well.

He’s gonna get payed. Someone’s going to give him a contract. Whether it’s the Colts or whoever.

It just may not be the “reset the running back market” type of contract.

Personally, I think there will be enough moments in the season of like “Oh, this offense could be legit scary with AR and JT in the backfield” that the Colts sign him to some kind of extension.

On another subject, kinda feels like the Titans are due for a reset.

They’ve been doing this same Tannehill and Henry thing for what feels like a decade. It ain’t workin. They gotta try something else don’t they?
