Magazines have both a spring and a follower (moving parts).
Clips do not have springs or followers (the M1 Garand uses clips, as does the S&W 625 revolver in .45 ACP).

When using the word, "clip," most people are speaking of a magazine.
Suggest calling magazines "magazines," not "clips."

My brother in law refers to magazines as clips, I used to correct him, then I realized it doesn't matter and it's not worth worrying about. It's the dopes that think all semi auto rifles are AK's and all handguns are Glocks that **** me off.:D

But, if we all start calling magazines by their proper name, how can we find the large booth that sells magazines at the 1500?

I had to break the wife of saying "clip." It's not a huge deal to me, I just told her it's one way you can tell if someone's level of knowledge. I also told her to call 1 round of ammunition a "cartridge" not a "bullet" for the same reason.

You do realize that virtually everyone who has been reading this group for more than a few days knows this and this pet peeve of yours gets commented on just about each and every time someone misuses the terminology?

Or did you think you were the only person who noticed?

I thought a "cartridge" was used in a rifle; a "bullet" in a handgun (pistol or revolver); and a "shell" in a shotgun? Now, I'm all confused. :dunno:
