I had a '72 Vega when in high school. Didn't have the requisite rust or burning oil. It was actually fun to drive. I took it to the dragstrip one Saturday and beat a Pontiac Trans Am in a head's up 1/4 mile. My buddies were on the ground laughing their asses off!

The Trans Am owner followed me to the pits and wanted to see if I had a V8 stuffed in it. When I opened the hood and he saw my 4 cylinder, I think he cried a little.

The rest of the story is that I really just cut the light better than him and he couldn't catch me before we ran out of track. I think my time was 17:13 or something similar.

I cut my front bumper like the one in the pic and had a front spoiler also.

If I could find an unmolested, rust free '72, I'd consider buying it and putting a small block in it. They fit well.

The last rust free Vega I saw had a unicorn driving it.
