Thanks, all, for your thoughts and prayers.

It's been an emotional few weeks as it started to become clear where Dad's illness was headed.

I had better hydrate as there is visiting coming up tomorrow and the funeral on Friday.

Not being a Catholic, I don't pretend to understand the history or ramifications of this...

Pope Francis says he's open to married Catholic men becoming pri - WDRB 41 Louisville News

If these reports are true, this is not good news for the Catholic Church.

Sex orgies, prostitution, porn: Claims shake Catholic Church in Italy

Without any sense of irony, I'm not sure which would be considered worse by my parents' generation of Catholics.

    This isn't exactly a new issue. :)

Maybe the church approach will evolve on this, maybe not.

For me, it isn't even really in the top 5 issues that the church should address. Maybe not even top 10.

That's because you're allowed to get married!

Eastern rite (Byzantine) Catholics under the Pope have married priests. This would align the Latin rite with them.

Reminds me when my daughter was 4 (she's now 5) we were reading some children's Bible story at bed time and there was some reference to asking Jesus into your heart... I asked her if she'd like to ask Jesus into her heart and she rolls her eyes at me (surely a trait learned from her mother) and says "He's already in me heart, what do you want him to do, jump out and jump back in again!?"

So another funny story from my daughter, who just turned 6.

Last night out of the blue, after bed time stories and tucking her in, she asks if Jesus really will bring us back to life if we die. I tell her yes. and then she asks if we are all then going to live in the "castle," and where will it come from... so I explain the "castle" is a city and it will come from heaven and yes we will all live there. Then she asks what if it smashes our house? I said something like well I don't think we have to worry about it, there will probably be a new place for us in the new city. Then she asks what if it smashes our car? Who will pay for it? Will we have to tell Jesus he needs to pay for our smashed car?
