I heard an employee call The Chicks On the Right show, talking about how carrier could get a rather expensive unit made, according to him, for $28, and it sells to the public for $10,000! He said it was costing them a little over $100 to make here.

Hats off to that expensive union representation. 1400 unemployed factory workers hitting the market looking for jobs...it's going to flat suck. I will never buy another Carrier or United Technologies product knowingly. This comes on top of Ford announcing yesterday that they will be building a new plant in Mexico as well.

According to the article above...Ford, along with nearly all other automakers, have been expanding rapidly in Mexico in recent years to capitalize on the country's lower labor rates, efficient port and rail system and free trade agreements. Where are they selling their Mexican cars? NOT MEXICO.

So screw you, American Middle Class.

Sad. I've seen so many jobs outsourced and manufacturing dry up in this state it's scary. Only thing worse is when you talk to the remaining manufacturing places and they tell you they can't find applicants that will pass a drug screen. Soon the biggest industry in this state will be tax paid jobs involving assisting, managing and incarcerating the people on drugs.

Wait until they elect the socialist. Why does it feel like the end is near?

Even a little guy like me has a huge problem finding any employees that can pass a 50 dollar pee test..

    YAY NAFTA!!

I hate NAFTA with a passion. Not a Union drone by any means, and this is the reason NAFTA sucks. The only ones in manufacturing who like NAFTA are the company owners. I cannot imagine the pure whimpering hades that a middle manager would have to deal with, in a foreign factory.

One of the key phrases I gleaned from that article was new regulatory requirements. I wonder exactly what those regulations are and who put them into place. In my opinion the regulatory agency is a culpable part of the equation. I don't know if their units come pre-charged or not but I think maybe refrigerant might be an issue. Where is the outcry for bailout money or something to that effect. It seems the only people who enjoy that luxury is the U.S automakers. I feel bad for the 1400 real people with real families and bills. I think we have been regulated to death in every facet of industry and sadly the only people that seem to suffer is the consumer and employee. Businesses exist to make a profit and if they find things more profitable or easier to conduct business on foreign soil maybe policy should be looked at. I don't think that will happen though.

Mexico is tough for gringos to work, spent a lot of time in maquila towns and very little was enjoyable.
