I wish I would've bought one when they were $6-700. By the time I thought about actually getting one they had doubled to nearly tripled that. My FN49, once considered the "poor man's M1A" is now nearly almost as much.
Ready, this is going to hurt. I bought my NM in the middle 80's for the huge sum of ready....... $599.00
    Swear to God.

When you do get one.I would encourage you to buy a "Pre-Ban". M1A. A Pre-ban are those M1A's manufactured before 1993. Those contain more GI parts VS post and current M1A's. Plus the early ones have the bayonet lug that just looks cool.

    Do it!
I'll post a pic in a bit, but I paid the measly sum of $300 for mine.
Bought a Friends of the NRA raffle ticket for $10 up in Michigan. Won the M1a, had to pay taxes and a transfer fee

They are sexy beasts for sure! Not so much wearing the poly stock but you can always find wood later like I did.

Wanna get even more spicy? Buy one in 6.5 Creedmore instead of .308.

No wood stock here but this is more or less what I wanted for an M1A (Socom variant). I picked this up 4 years ago when SA was running a deal where a scope mount and 2 free 20 rounders were included (along with the 10). After I put the scope on I quickly realized I needed a cheek riser. I swapped out the flash hider/gas block for a threaded version so I could run the can on it. Put on some swivel studs for sling and bipod mount. I haven't shot this a lot but it does run well with the can.
