Even though this forum is the best 2A asylum :runaway: on the internet:
Why would any fellow INGO member in their right mind (?) try to talk you out of buying such a classic firearm especially an M1a in wood and steel?
    Seriously?:ugh:

If you don’t buy for your self, buy one for me…think of the children!!
That is one on my bucket list, so.. if you don’t need , but want it, and have the money, buy it..( did I help?)

Have wanted an M1a for a long time, I enjoy shooting the 308 , any better alternatives out there? It would be a just because purchase.
Save up a little extra for a M1A National Match. You won't regret it.

Maybe you can afford a Fulton Armory M65.

You can also get a nice AR-10 in 308win.

For some reason I am not a fan of the AR platform, I know they are nice carbines but I really like steel and wood. Guess that’s why I am a 1911 fan as well. The one that Allen M worked over for me is over the top nice accurate and reliable consistently hits a small steel plate at 30 plus yards and not from a rest.

If you can afford it go Fulton Armory.

My oldest bought a nice M1A1 and built it up into a sniper rifle. It was a lot of fun to shoot and was expensive to feed. He had well over $2500 in it (pre Desert Storm) and ended up selling it at a loss

I wish I would've bought one when they were $6-700. By the time I thought about actually getting one they had doubled to nearly tripled that. My FN49, once considered the "poor man's M1A" is now nearly almost as much.

Based on my research, you dont want to go any lower than a Loaded model. Those have a good mix of features and accuracy enhancements without going crazy.

    My wish list would be:
    Fulton Armory
    Springfield National Match
    Springfield Loaded

Anything else is slumming it and you might as well buy any other old steel and wood rifle because you are overpaying for what you get for the basic models.
