Call of Duty: Black Ops

The lag is still atrocious, but I have confidence that it will be fixed soon.

This is an understatement.. worst I have ever seen!

It's my understanding they have mistakenly disabled multi-core support on the PC platform, causing lag. Supposedly a patch is on the way.

I've downloaded on Steam and messed with the campaign a bit, but have been otherwise busy.

Uber-pwnage will ensue when I get some free time

I'd have to give the campaign mode 6.5 out of 10 so far. I didn't buy this game for the campaign mode, but for the online play (Xbox Live).

Having killed two 360's earlier this year while playing MW2, it was nice to plug in my newest 360 and Black Ops after an 8 month XBox hiatis.

The more I hear about the abysmal sound design on this, the less likely I am to buy it. I love hearing sounds from my surround sound as a clue to playing the game. Footsteps, firing, etc. All sounded pretty authentic and direction and varied with distance. Sounds like that is pretty much out the window, from what I have been reading.

Sad that Activision killed their partnership with the MW2 programmers.

Yeah, I bought it because I needed SOMETHING to play, otherwise I would have skipped it.

I play competitively in a few leagues, and so far, none of them have gotten past the planning stages for this game. From the looks of things, the intense lag on the PC version, despite the dedicated servers, has kinda halted everything in it's tracks, till it gets fixed.

MW2 was a huge waste of money, and I didn't even pay for it! (Won it in a CoD4 tourny). So I don't plan on buying Black Ops till the devs release the modding tools and can get the lag under control. Till then, you'll find me wasting all my free time playing New Vegas. lol. (Me and Obsidian has had a love affair since KotOR 2, bugs and all)

Got it for my son on Tuesday, excellent graphics, which can be tuned off partially in the options,,, still too many swear words for my taste, it just is not necessary

he uses the surround sound head phones

I played for 2-3 hours last night. The lag on the PC side is pretty much fixed. I found 2 low ping U.S. servers. I was finally able to max out my graphics settings, and I'm averaging 30 FPS.

Meh. I saw this game yesterday, and it is just like the new MOH, which I was EXTREMELY disappointed with.

I am spending my $60 on this instead and waiting on Battlefield 3

Yeah. I'm not gonna fall for the off year COD trap this year. I blew enough money to just be disappointed by world at war. Treyarch is a terrible game developer and i am done with buying there mediocre.

I can't wait till everyone realizes they can't play online at all once they start releasing DLC unless they shell out 12 bucks every month like with WAW.

I'll save my cash for the big releases coming up next year.
