I've never seen a garage without another entrance. If the garage spring ever breaks or the garage door opener breaks, you'll be in a similar situation. Glad to hear the window worked!
    well- thats happened before. :ugh:
really old door wood and galvanized iron. monstrously sized springs.
just put the key in the lock cylinder in the middle of the door, pull the wire and pop the disconnect on the opener track and we're off to the races.
Currently, could still open the door with both springs broken... but in a few years would be looking for my jack and some wedges etc.
and to be clear. there are 5 glass windows IN the door.
4 window openings that are casement windows.
so my choice was, break out a small pane in one of the three casement windows (the other one is blocked by my fridge) and open it up and crawl through.
    or
break a bigger pane in the door so I could do that "send the door down" as I slammed the tailgate down (through the hole in the broken window) and hope they don't meet again.
It worked. small cut on one hand.
