I saw the very same thing done with a M16 and a cleaning rod. Marine walked away from it, then to the brig and discharged. Destruction of government property.

I can't see them hanging someone out to dry over an accident.

Must've been quite a screwup in ways completely unrelated to firearms.

Yep, it was training overseas right before a deployment. It was suspected that he intentionally did it. The dude had some issues and the Corps took the opportunity to weed one out. I just was glad he was way down the line and not my responsibility. I was working as an RSO at the time, I would like to think I would catch that but you never know. The RSO responsible got an article 15. The Corps is a tough crowd when it comes the safety.

That pic is as old as the hills, and there is NO WAY the guy in the last pic sustained such injuries from that rifle. I can't recall any details but that pic is probably close to 10 years old.

That pic is as old as the hills, and there is NO WAY the guy in the last pic sustained such injuries from that rifle. I can't recall any details but that pic is probably close to 10 years old.

I believe it was August of 1999 when VUPD blew his rifle up
