I recall a year or two back there was reporting of a stage set that mimicked the official press area. It was complete with windows that appeared to show the appropriate views. The question was always, why? Why is a stage set needed?

Much easier with a set.
Then lighting and cameras can go where you want, and NOT where they fit.
Also, people can move around in the background, behind the cameras.. where a wall would be in the office.
Lighting can be better controlled, and not at the mercy of the real sun.
