Certified Glock Nut
Then a doctor came up to the range instructor and me. Said it is acutally a very good idea. When you turn the gun sideways, it brings something like 18 more muscles into play.
Many instructors teach that when shooting a pistol one-handed, you should cant the gun slighly to better align the bones in the arm and wrist and help compensate for the lack of a support arm/hand. The guy I've taken most of my pistol training from explained that due to varying body types and mechanics, everyone's natural degree of cant would be a little different, but it should be "more than 15 degrees, but not all the way to 'yo' (90 degrees)".
About 45 degrees on the strong side and a bit less on the support side is most natural for me. I've also been exposed to a one-handed technique that dispenses with the cant altogether, but incorporates an unlocked elbow... that seems to work as well or better in the recoil control department, and it has the advantage of offering the same sight picture as a conventional two-handed hold.
