If I was going to go with a 9 for bed side gun (I wouldn't) it would be my Sig P226.

I use my gen4 g17 with TFO sights and TLR-1HL light. Suits me just fine.

Preferably something with a can on it. HK VP9, Inforce APL weapon light, and a AAC Tirant 9 attached to the muzzle. Spare mags to boot.

There is no such thing as "best". We all have different preferences, skill levels, grip, vision, etc.
