Sad to hear this, but glad you will be halfway up and running again pretty soon.

I have never purchased from you, but I also currently do not own a firearm of any type. I have been in twice this year and was very happy with your shop and people in there. My wife is not a gun lover by any stretch, and your shop is one of only two that she will go into. She seems to like your shop and atmosphere so I wanted to say thanks for what you have got going up there. Hopefully I can cure my current problem of being firearmless at your shop in the near future to help you out, and me too!

Thanks for the update man. I know it was probably immature of me to worry about my suppressor, but based on the timelines thread I hope to get my stamp any day now. :) If it happens to come in while you guys are still closed I guess I can wait until you're open to pick it up (if you promise to have some Aguilla SSS .22 ammo in stock...)

I think it was stated at some point in the process that the customer stuff was OK, and if you needed it sooner than when they reopened to contact them and they would make arrangements. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

This is so unfortunate. I wish you and everyone at BGF the best. I'm sure the gun community would help in any way possible. I, for one, think it's perfectly acceptable for your business you check all ammo going in. It sounds like a pain, but I'd do it to keep my favorite range open and safe.

build new range WITHOUT shredded tires

Some quick updates and rumor control.

#1 - No customer inventory was harmed in the fire. This includes lay always, consignment guns, and NFA pending transfers and the SSNFA office.

#2 - We are certain that the fire was not mechanically induced but was caused by ammo used on the firing range. (Please don't ask us to comment further on this, we simply cannot for legal reasons)

#3 - Retail operations will resume in as little as two weeks. All transfers and orders will be handled "business as usual". If you must have your transfer (that was here or already shipped before the fire started) before the retail side opens back up we will work with you to make that happen.

#4 - Best estimate on the range side "grand-reopening" is approximately 6 months.

When we know more, you will know more. Thanks again for your continued support!!

went to avon range, parabellum, since bgfr burned...and avon range has steel backtraps all angled, sorta like a honeycomb, and bullits bounce around and into a steel trap and drop into bucket...and they sell the rounds for reloaders or recyclers...seems like a much better design. steel wont catch on fire.

A few decades back, I worked at "The Gun Room" in Beech Grove, Ind. and the angled steel plates with a spin chamber at the top was what they used for a back-stop and like you said, all I had to do was empty the trays at the front of the plates into 5 gallon buckets and hall them out in a little "Radio Flyer" wagon to be traded for reloaded ammo.

The bullet would hit the plate and slide up into the spin chamber at the top and after it stopped spinning it would slide down the steel plate into the tray at the front, simple and effective and non-flammable.

That's 1 post in just under 2 years? Pacing yourself?
Seriously, I like Parabellum, and not just because it's 2 miles away.

When I was kid, I used to shoot on a PPC league at the Gun Room. Gary Reed owned it, and a good friend (at the time) PJ used to work there.

Posting a boost for one range in a thread about another range's misfortune might be considered just a little bit in poor taste but you could have at least done it without flaming somebody else? :dunno: No style points!

    Any updates?

Well, I go by there several times a day and watch the activity.
They have people there working every day, including Mondays.
They are working real hard to get the store back open and they
have been cleaning up some of the mess in the range.
It's the worst kind of mess from rubber smoke damage.
The fire was only in the far end of the range but the smoke went
throughout the whole store and got on just about everything.

Oh! and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn this week.

I'm trying to think if it was Sunday or Monday I saw a crew there working on the retail side cleaning. I am going out on a limb and saying it was Sunday.

Still makes me sad when I go by.

I hope they get the range back in operation sooner than 6 months. BGF has been my go to for shooting my M10/45. Other than a few other ranges with occasional "full auto" days, it was the best game in town for shooting full auto, especially when whether was bad. :(
