I'll start this off with a little back history about myself since i'm new here.

I am currently an active duty Marine stationed in 29 palms California. I have been stationed here for the last 4 years and my last two deployments. I have owned some guns but generally i love shooting anything from an m9 to a mk19. I own a Glock 23 gen 4, Ruger gunsite scout, Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22, Ruger SL22, and a Remington 597. I shoot a lot. Generally it averages out to about 200-300 rounds a month from the glock and anywhere from 500-800 a month from the others combined. Now on to the meat and potatos.

January of 2013 i get back from christmas leave with my family to find my house broken into. door jambs shattered, sever windows jimmyed open...oh and about 10k in electronics and jewelry stolen. Upon my return on january 2nd we boarded up the house as best we could and let our landlord know. We went to sleep after the police left and basically just hoped for the next day to be better. However at about 1am i awoke to my front door being kicked in so what did i do? What every person in that situation would do i grabbed my glock and put him and his buddy on their face in my living room while my girl called the police. Upon there arrival again (it only took them 45 minutes of holding these two at gun point) the police arrived i explained what i did. One of them was arrested on a seperate warrant and released the next day. The other one walked out my front door.

Now comes the good part. The police confiscated my glock for "brandishing a firearm". Bear in mind this was on January 3, 2013. I just got my pistol back on August 13, 2013. Over 8 months to get my pistol back with no charges pressed against me. Unfortunately (and not for lack of trying) no charges were even pressed against the doucher who broke into my house.

California does have a castle doctrine however no stand your ground laws and the law specifically states that the assailant would have to have INTENT to cause severe bodily harm or death. Which he didnt have.

Moral of the story be glad that Indiana has laws that support the citizens and encourage the lawful use of firearms and to protect your home and family. Thankfully i am getting medically retired on oct 1 and will be able to move back to Indiana. The days of living in Kalifornistan cannot end soon enough.

And here is a fun little afghan pic to end the rant/post with. This was on my second deployment to Afghanistan in a compound that had roughly 25 camels; by and far not the norm in sangin especially in that area where most people have less than an acre of popee to make their living on.

Geez, at least when you were deployed you were allowed to have your stinkin' weapon and point it at threats. You're safer on a deployment than in your own home with your family back in Kalifornia!

Welcome to INGO. Hope you make it back home to Indiana without too much more trouble.

    Semper.

I appreciate your service. Its just sad really that the criminals basically get nothing or a slap on the wrist. Soon they will be like Obamas sons and kill an 88 year old Vet in a parking lot.

    1. Thank you for your service.
    2. Welcome to INGO.
    3. Sorry to hear how you were treated in Komifornia.
    4. I doubt that you will have a problem to find good people to go shooting with here in Indiana.

Thank you for your service. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. It burns me that anytime your life was on the line as a soldier, you were fighting for California's right to trample the constitution and our natural rights. I posted this to my Facebook page.

But i'll be traveling around and really desire to get into some competition shooting and hopefully be able to teach some more tactical and combat rifle skills.

    Semper Fi Marine!

I feel your pain, I was stationed in CA twice during my Marine Corps career. That state flat out sucks hind tit in every way when it comes to your rights to protect yourself. A unaccompanied tour in Oki is better than a 3 year tour in CA with your family. I hope you can get a PCS move soon.

First of all, THANK YOU for your service to our nation! If it were not for men and women like you I'm sure we would be in far worse shape than we are now. I'm really horrified at the way you were treated as a criminal by your own local government because you did what our Constitution and the CA Constitution both say you have a right to do, protect yourself and your family.

Secondly, your point about the state of the State of California is well taken. It's been totally overtaken by liberal-elites and socialists who care more about protecting criminals and bums than lawful men and women. It breaks my heart to see this same mentality overtaking other states (CO, OR, WA, NM, and the entire NE USA!) as well as the federal government. These people, unfortunately, get their power from those who elect them and re-elect them again and again.

I am very thankful that I live in Indiana, not a perfect place by any means but for now at least a state where the government is not running wild embracing any and every deviant scheme possible. But I'm NOT one to say it could never happen here. I know it could.

I will say what I always like to say, the best protection against tyranny that we (still) have is the BALLOT BOX! Vote the CONSTITUTION instead of the ECONOMY because the latter is irrelevant without the former!

BTW, that a fine looking AR you have. I am assuming that it's a REAL assault-rifle. (Good looking camels too!)
