I don't think I'll be able to get her into firearms classes. She's not particularly anti-gun, but she's not pro-gun either. I think I'll start off with giving her a can OC spray and offer to take her to the range every now and then.

It can be done - with patience and perseverence. My duaghter 4 yrs ago - was "against" carrying (not necessarily guns in particular, just CC/OC by Citizens) ... she's now applied for LTCH and we're working towards training and EDC.

lots of effort, tongue biting, and patience ... I'll bet you think your sister is worth it ... Get at it.

    And glad she's safe BTW.

I agree .. but no more fatal than a handgun, which I offered as a better solution.
not every situation needs that level of force. If you're going to use pepper spray, use pepper spray. If it needs to be fatal, carry a gun, knife, etc

The kitty key chain just seems too flimsy based on the picture. It needs a better grip so you can hold it in your palm and have more control over it and not have to worry about breaking your fingers.

I guess my younger sister just got escorted home by our local police department. Apparently has she was walking through Wal-Mart (which is totally safe at night) some creep was following her around and harassing her. We're not close siblings but hearing about that was scary.

Now before I continue, I have to mention that I am 5'9" and weigh around 270. My younger sister is taller than I am, is in much better shape, takes karate, and is perfectly capable of whooping my ass in a physical confrontation.....But that NEVER LEAVES THIS FORUM. That being said, I wish to God she carried! At least pepper spray or a stun gun or even a pocket knife.

I think I'm going to try and convince her to come with me next time I go window shopping at my LGS and let her try out some "force multipliers."

Was this the camby walmart? Kinda surprises me that would happen there...

Yup. But have you been there at midnight before? That and there's that "gangsta" who walks around Heartland Crossing with his pants sagging below his ass wearing a rag and a cap on his head. Looks like he's from south central LA.

That is creepy. But it's great that she's skilled in self defense and can defend herself. But the bad thing about karate is that you have to touch the slimeball. I would not give up on your efforts to convince her to arm herself. After all, her odds are better than most already because of her martial arts skills, but a handgun would definitely make her that much more to of a force to be reckoned with.

Best defense is a good offense, avoid these places unless you absolutely have to go @ night.

There are creepers everywhere though, so maybe gifting her a gun would be better. Tell her if she ever wants to get rid of it, it comes back to you.
