I have 2 and I'm keeping them both. I'm happy that I picked up a Garand and some ammo a couple weeks ago before the craziness started. Things will eventually settle down but I think the days of the off the shelf AR15 at $800.00 are gone. Was in Linton Walmart this eve and the Gun counter guy told me they had more coming in next week but their distributor has already told them price would be higher.

so, OP. If you bought gold at $300 and it is now up to $1700, do you feel that you should only sell it for $330,10% more than what you spent on it? I mean it was only $300/oz when you bought it. I wouldn't want you to gouge anyone by selling it at market value. Same thing with stocks. do you only buy stocks just so you can get back out if them what you put into them?

All you socialists on here who are bellyaching about price gouging should think about it. The people who didn't raise their prices on P-mags had the first couple of people who ordered, buy them out. When they were cheap, people bought way more than they had a need for. When the prices went up, people bought fewer, because they couldn't afford more, that left more magazines for others to buy, albeit at a higher price, therefore distributing the available supply in a more equitable manor. This is the same way for people who raise prices of scarce resources in a natural disaster. If prices aren't raised, then people buy more than they really need, because it is cheap. Instead, when prices are raised, people are more circumspect with their purchases, making do with less. This leaves some of the resource for the next guy, instead of having him left with nothing.

Keeping all my ARs. Bought 7 additional rifles since the Connecticut school shooting, all very soon after the shooting before the panic buying set in so I got them at the 'old' prices. I also picked up quite a few magazines for each of those 7 additional rifles, again, before the mad rush. Also picked up nearly 20,000 primers, powder, etc. Also loaded in some loaded ammo in both pistol & rifle calibers. Got in some LPKs too. None of that stuff is for sale, its all my personal use, and all at the "old" prices.

I am selling AR15 parts in the INGO classifieds, I'm offering them up at the "old" prices.

So, everyone buying stuff after you is "panic buying"? I see a lot of posts like this on different sites I go to. GuyX is at the store to pick up a box of X, and a couple of YYs, and everyone there, except him, is panic buying. I guess that makes me a "level-headed buyer", I haven't bought any gun stuff for a couple months. :dunno:

If this is a temporary "bump" in the market, you'll be a "level headed buyer". If this is the start if something more permanent, you might have missed the boat.

When the LGS restock their shelves, do you really think its going to be at the "old prices"?

I bought 2 last weekend at before insanity pricing. Both fellas knew they could wait and get more but both went ahead with the deals. I will not re-sell these or any others I have.

Free market fellas. Roll with it.

Saw this same insanity with Harley's in the late 80's mid 90's and more recently muscle cars.

Nothing new here. Deal with a gouger or not, your call.

I have 3 and if someone offered me $10 grand for 1 I would decline

Really? old saying, "a fool, and his money....are soon parted". If some fool threw out 10K, you decline to take it.....perhaps it was a meeting of the minds then. don't get me wrong, I REALLY appreciate my AR's. Yes, I even say that I love having my AR's. I know it is a special, very capable firearm. BUT, I can shoot a ruger ranch rifle or mini 14 just as easily, and never need to own another AR in my life. There are soooo many options available. I'm not a fan of SKS/AK's but would pick one up if necessary.

:twocents: is all this is. I will be looking at selling one or two personally, and soon!

Were you peeking over my shoulder last week? I bought gold Krugerands in the early 90's for no more than 400 each. Sold one last week for some xtra christmas cash, and the guy was prodding me a bit. He says "if you'd have come in here two days ago, it would have been $75 more". I just said thanks, and took my 400+% profit and walked on out.

:D gotta love the free market :patriot:

Ive wanted one for a while but just haven't had a chance to get one :( even though I know it would never happen I would be willing to trade my M&P 9mm and my double Coach gun for a basic AR. Does anyone get the feeling that if this ban doesn't go through the price of an AR is goin to drop tremendously?

*edit due to authors own stupidity*

Why would the price of something no longer available go down???????

I have one listed. It would've been for sale eventually, this is just a prime time to do it.

It's called taking advantage of current market conditions.

    Yay capitalism!

I guess I'm in the same boat as some of you. I have a Bushmaster Carbine, an Olmpic 16" HB and a GSG5 I've been thinking of selling/trading but just never got around to it. I want to be fair but I don't want to sell something for $800 and then see it for sale for $1800. I don't sell on any other sites and like to stay local but I just don't know what to do. Just waiting I guess. Got some AK ammo too but in the same dilemma there too. :dunno:

Nope. The AR pistol and rifle aren't going up for sale. Even though I could sell the rifle pretty easily for at least double what I have in it, not happening. I do wish I would have bought a couple hundred pmags @ $10 a pop at a show last year though. They'd probably be going up on Gunbroker in piles of 20 with a decent reserve and low starting bid. If idiots wanted to run it up, that is on them.

If someone wants to sell their firearm at an outlandish price and finds a willing buyer that's fine. Its the American way. No one is price gouging. Something to think about is that with recent rush gun dealers are going to take a financial hit when they run out of guns to sell down the road. Its called supply and demand.

I'm perfectly comfortable to keep my eyes open and wallet closed until I see something I'm willing to open my wallet for. I have nothing to sell. If someone offered me a price that I couldn't turn down I'll take it. I won't provide a selling price.

I do know the price increases are going to slow the growth of 3-gun matches.:ar15:

In case you were wondering, prices won't be going lower until a ban is attempted, and is voted down. If that occurs, we will be seeing the lowest prices on AR's that we have ever seen in the history of the shooting sports as people unload all those panic purchases into a market which no longer has any demand. Like I said, its simple economics.

I don't think so. I think it will be like it has been after every panic buy. There will be a glut of ARs for sale, at prices near what the seller paid for them.

After new prices have gone back down to the $800 range, you will still see ads such as: For Sale - AR15 $1700. I've got over $2000 in this, and it has been rarely used. I can provide receipt to show what I paid.

And those sellers will get furious when someone offers them $600.

By the grace of God, I picked up a Del Ton Sport (my very 1st AR) at Right to Bear Arms in Haubstadt on Friday. $721 out the door. Staff was patient and courteous, with no "panic upcharge" added to my rifle at the last minute.

    No way I'm selling.

(Place was busy as hades. Saw a guy with a double armload of Troy Battlemags waiting in line at the register. I picked up the last Battlemag on the rack. .223 ammo wiped out.)
